Obama's new budget saves $24 billion

now, where is the GOP budget for 2012?

though....it does appear that some of Obama's proposed Defense cuts for 2012 are in the GOP's proposed 2011 cuts.

...though I don't see the GOP cutting the jet engine that the Pentagon doesn't need or want.

I say let them cut the pork from the military. So long as they don't cut NASA or the money for high speed rail I'm happy with it.

Why not cut NASA? What's NASA doing that makes it sacrosanct from even temporary cuts during a time when the interest on our growing debt threatens the very stability of our nation?

most importantly, it cuts billions in military budgets and programs that the Pentagon doesn't even want.

No, most importantly it continues to run deficits, which adds more and more to our $14T+ debt. That is its most important feature.

Because NASA is involved in a lot of high end basic research and does neat things that make this nation worth living in.

The House Appropriations Committee today introduced a Continuing Resolution (H.R. 1) to fund the federal government for the last seven months of the fiscal year while cutting spending by over $100 billion from the President’s fiscal year 2011 request.

I see the sleight of hand. The OP was about the President's 2012 budget request, not the President’s 2011 request, which I assume was not the same as the actual budget that was finally passed by congress and signed by the president.

we are still in fiscal year 2011...the GOP wants to cut $100 billion from the current budget...then we can get to 2012.

Not according to your link. Do you understand the difference between "the current budget" and "the President’s fiscal year 2011 request"?

true, the actual cut total would be around total $61 billion since Obama's 2011 request was never enacted.

sly ones, those Republicans!

I didn't catch that, thanks.

You ain't seen nothin yet. We're gonna build a gargantuan mother ship in earth orbit. Then we're friggin leaving. We might send a mother or two back in a few millenia to settle some scores.
