No, not the financial news group, but the Mayor of NYC. Normally I would totally dismiss this as being irrelevant, but given the media attention due to the superstorm and all, I think Mayor Bloomberg has a platform to get his voice heard, and it projects the more "Presidential image" that some feel is importnat.

In a surprise announcement, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that Hurricane Sandy had reshaped his thinking about the presidential campaign, and he announced that he was endorsing President Obama, the New York Times reports.

I have this mental image of Bloomberg's phones ringing off the hook as Romney staffers desperately try bringing him back on the reservation.

Ugh. Mayor Big Gulp weighs in.

I'd rather have the Honey BooBoo endorsement.

My point was that Nanny Bloomberg is a twat.

Oh, I thought you meant you would value an endorsement from Honey Boo Boo if you were running for president. Maybe you could get her to endorse your favorite candidate.

I'm not sure this changes much since Obama is gonna carry New York regardless.

But maybe hearing about how Obama is so unlike W when it comes to hurricanes will help.

Gas shortages, people scrounging for food in dumpsters. That'll help.
The gas is waiting to get into the city, and for power to run the gas pumps.

Obama just authorized military aircraft to haul generators and military personnel to run them from California to the East Coast.

Bush the Lesser hired a contractor and figured that the moron he had put in charge of it had a clue.

That's what Obama gets for acting too soon, I guess.

Oh no. Obama is supposed to snap his fingers, and magically, power will return, Food will appear, and the water will all vanish.

Since he hasn't done so, that means that Obama is terrible President, and should immediately step down so the great Prophet Romney can take over.

They just don't make Anti-Christs like they used to, I guess.

Bloomberg is kissing up to Obama in the wake of Sandy. Sounds to me like he's hoping to get more federal dollars in return. So... why exactly should we care about his endorsement?

I agree.

So... why exactly should we care about his endorsement?

1. If we are right then he probably thinks that Obama is going to win. No point in sucking up to Romney is there? This is interesting is it not?

2. Some people will be swayed by this. It helps to counter the lunacy of Fox, etc. Some people might wonder why Bloomberg is endorsing a gay Muslim marxist Kenyan and realise that they have been misinformed.

Not really. Regardless of who wins, the money is going to get allocated now, not next year. Even if Obama loses, he's going to be in office until January.

Maybe, but I doubt many at this late a stage.
