No-confidence motion against Annan

I am one of the biggest bashers of Kofi Annan. I think he is a two-faced slimeball. It's nice to see others do to.

UN staff are expected to make an unprecedented vote of no confidence in Secretary-General Kofi Annan ....The UN staff union, in what officials said was the first vote of its kind in the almost 60-year history of the United Nations ...

But true to form the UN even weasles out of that reponsibility.

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - The UN staff union passed a resolution highly critical of the world body's senior management while declining to pin the blame directly on Secretary General Kofi Annan...The move came just days after Annan pardoned the head of the UN's internal oversight office, Dileep Nair, who had been targeted with allegations of harassment and favouritism....Another top official, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Ruud Lubbers, was cleared by Annan in July after a female member of his staff complained that he had sexually harassed her....Annan has publicly complained of a "campaign" against the United Nations over the so-called oil-for-food programme, which ran between December 1996 and November 2003.

Whew!...Thank goodness Kofi dodged that bullet and now can keep the hypocrisy train moving full steam ahead...

Not much of a bullet BTW simply a union thing, not a real vote of no confidence. Doesn't mean it isn't true of course, but still.

I stand corrected...next time I shall check the back pages before I post.

Anyhow, Annan gets exonerated, no one gets fired for anything and it's business as usual for the UN bureaucracy.
