Massachusetts 9/11 auctions low-number plates

BOSTON (AP) The Massachusetts 9/11 Fund is auctioning off its remaining “United We Stand” specialty license plates with coveted three-digit numbers. Low-numbered plates have long been a symbol of prestige for Massachusetts drivers, often so cherished the numbers are passed down through generations.
The Registry of Motor Vehicles previously raised more than $850,000, and the 270 plates that were not sold went up for auction this week. Of the plates given to the charity, a few were not put up for auction: 11, 175, 77 and 93 the flight numbers from the planes used by terrorists and the numbers 911 and 666.
I'm still scratching my head.
