NEW TAM 6 Roommates thread

So... I am adding this new thread as the other one is really cluttered with posts, most of them older ones from people who are no longer looking for roommates. I am going to suggest that we post offers of rooms or 'wanted' ads here, and do the rest of the working out of details over PM to keep things clear and simple. Also, pehaps as we find roommates, we can delete our posts to keep the thread up to date.

Cheers!

Hi! I am looking for a roommate(s). Since successful co-habitation involves at very least non-conflicting personalities (and hopefully complementary ones! :)), here's a bit about me:

I am Canadian, 30, and in my third year of a grad degree in Earth Science at Dalhousie University (and starting a PhD in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Toronto next year working on Burgess Shale hemichordates). I am honest, fun, easy to get a long with, and very outgoing. Oh, and I don't snore! I am clean and comfortable with 'student style' crashing, e.g., cots or floor to save some cash. (As a field paleontologist I definitely don't mind a little bit of roughing it, especially given that my monthly stipend is <$900!)

I used to be very active in the skeptics/humanist movements, but have stepped back a bit to concentrate on academic work. (You can Google me and you should still get some hits, I think). My brother Dan Loxton is the editor of Jr. Skeptic Magazine. You can add me as a friend on Facebook to see more about me (Jason Loxton, Dalhousie University).

Several people seem to have had success splitting rooms 4 ways for a cost per person of about $25 a night. I am open to this, but also to only one or two roommates if thisis how things work out. I would like to stay at the Flamingo Hotel to be close to the action and maximize my skeptical shmoozing.

Looking for one or more people to shack up with! PM me or drop a line at: jason.loxton@dal.ca
Cheers!

Jason

My offer is still open to share, I have a room booked at the Imperial Palace for Wed thru Sat nights (my flight leaves Sunday).

Greetings TAM attendants,

I’m a 27 year-old Danish male CS/math major hoping to share a room (with one or several people) for the TAM6. As far as travelling to the US is concerned, it’s a first, so any advice would also be most welcome. I am hoping to arrive shortly before the TAM and then extend my stay for a couple of days afterwards, in order to see at least a fraction of the surrounding areas as a tourist.

In terms of personality, at least a few people have put me down as generally good natured and easy-going. My interests lie in various fields (science included) and the pursuit of knowledge in general. I don’t smoke and won’t take up too much room. :-)

I hope to be hearing from you soon.

2 down 2 to go!

I have reserved a room at the Flamingo for Anders and myself for the night of the 19th, 20, and 21st. We can have up to two more people in the room and are looking for more. Both of us will be in town from the 18th-24th. Money is tight, but if more people would like to share the room for some of these additional days (18th, 22-23rd) we are open, otherwise the hostels beckon!

Cost for 2 people $119 per night (plus tax). A little more for 3 or 4, I believe, divided by the number of people staying.

PM me and let me know.

Me: 30, Canadian grad student in invert. paleo. (Facebook search: Jason Loxton, Dalhousie University.)

Anders: 27, Danish computer science/math student.

Both of us: Nice, sociable, easy going, sexy as hell.

:)

Jason

P.s. I would like to delete/edit my previous post clear up clutter, but it won't seem to let me. Suggestions?

Me and Anders have filled our room. Good luck guys!

Cheers!

Jason

P.s. I want to delete my previous (and now dated) posts. Don't know how. The edit function seems to be disabled. Can anyone help?

The "Edit" option is only available for a limited time, 2 hours I think. Just let the thread fall off the page.

Need a room

Last minute good to go, now I need a room. I'll be arriving late Thursday night and leaving Sunday morning.

Oh, I'm female (not that's there's anything wrong with that!) :D

NEVER MIND! Got a room at Circus-Circus. See ya there!!!

Alright... I'm considering making the last minute TAM plunge. I'm dirt poor, so getting a hotel room together is important. Anyone still looking for a roommate?

I'm a 28 year old male computer science graduate student, if you need my demographics.

Are you still looking, kookbreaker?

ETA: I'd be arriving Thursday night and staying through Sunday (not staying Sunday night.)

I was delphi's roommate last year. He's totally awesome, but I have to warn you:

JeffWagg may or may not bust through your room wall.

My ability to attend TAM is based in large part on my ability to get a room with someone. Any spots open within staggering distance of the Flamingo?

I'm a guy and I don't smoke.
