Its new. Its streaming video. Browse the archives for some excellent stories (truth) on the Australian and U.K. gun bans, told by the Brits and Aussies themselves.

Is that the truth like this article you linked to claiming there is a total gun ban in the UK, even though that is utter bunk, something you have refused to acknowledge?

I look forward to you posting more rubbish that you then run away from........

You may not own a rifle, or a pistol in the U.K.. Period. One shotgun per person is allowed, under heavy regulations. Most owners have turned those in also, because the regulations, and registration are too difficult and burdensome.

You'll never get them back.

Dicky boy........

The article claims there is a "total gun ban".

I sincerely hope you are not so stupid that I have to post links to dictionary.com.....

Do you accept that there is no total gun ban yes or no?

Incidentally, there are are 43,790 rifle certificates on issue in Scotland alone...

Facts Dicky. Not anecdotes......

Utter garbage

"4. Shot gun certificates, covered by Section 2 of the 1968 Act and Section 2 of the 1988 Act, permit the holder to possess any number of shot guns, which can include pump-action and self-loading weapons which have a magazine which is incapable of holding more than two cartridges"

Try again Dicky.......

Oh and just for good measure:

Interesting usage of the word "most"..........

Keep trying. By the law of averges you will get something right eventually.........

Care for a little wager on that, Shaun? :D

Remember, it'll take those 10 000 monkeys with 10 000 typewriters 10 000 years! I don't know if Dick's going to live that long.

I'm thinking of the Hamlet/Monkeys analogy. As does Mr Manifesto so it appears!!

If we wait long enough.................:D

I am however, willing to take a bet on the odds Dicky has bailed from this thread.......:D

#1) All firearms licensed under the act are arbitary, at the discretion of the police chief. (if he doesn't want you having one, you arent getting one). http://www.hmso.gov.uk/acts/acts1997/97005--c.htm#22

#2) All licensed firearms permited are to be kept locked up at a shooting club, or completely disassembled, and locked up, with ammunition in a seperate location.

This makes it impossible to defend yourself with a firearm from a criminal attack in the UK, unless you break the law. What the hell is the point of owning one under those conditions? Might as well take them into the backyard and bury them.

I don't own firearms because they are pretty, or to be a big bad man. I own them to defend myself, and family from the animals in society who prey on others.

Ah-ah Dicky this is not what you argued.........

YOU posted:

1/ You may not own a rifle, or a pistol in the U.K. period

I have posted clear evidence this is bunk. Please provide evidence that contradicts it. in other words Dicky, why are there rifle certificates on issue?

YOU posted

2/ One shotgun per person is allowed

I have, again, posted clear evidence this is bunk. Please provide evidence that contradicts it. In other words Dicky, why does the law say that (a certificate) "permits the holder to possess any number of shot guns" when you said you are only allowed to own one shotgun?

YOU posted

3/ Most owners have turned those in also

I have, again, posted clear evidence this is bunk. Please provide evidence that contradicts it. In other words please explain how "most" owners is actually a decrease of approx 8,000 from the figure in 1997, which leaves over 50,000 certificates on issue? (Bear in mind that is not the number of shotguns, that is only the certificates. The number of shotguns increased in 2002 over 2001 by 0.9%, giving a total of 122,551 shot guns in circulation)

If you can't, are you prepared to admit that these 3 statements are factually incorrect?

.

As a side note, the word "arbitary" does not appear once in this link. This is in fact a link dealing with the licensing of pistol clubs, not individuals.

The corect passage form the FAA is

here

The most important parts of it are:

"The certificate may be revoked if the chief officer of police has reason to believe-

(a) that the holder is of intemperate habits or unsound mind or is otherwise unfitted to be entrusted with a firearm; or
(b) that the holder can no longer be permitted to have the firearm or ammunition to which the certificate relates in his possession without danger to the public safety or to the peace."

Hardly "if he doesn't want you having one, you arent getting one". And hardly arbitrary. It may be a judgement call on a persons state of mind, but that is hardly new, or even unique in criminal justice.

And of course you have the right of appeal:

"44. - (1) An appeal against a decision of a chief officer of police under section 28A, 29, 30A, 30B, 30C, 34, 36, 37 or 38 of this Act lies-

(a) in England and Wales, to the Crown Court; and
(b) in Scotland, to the sheriff. "

They will make the final decision, not the Chief.

Try again Dicky.........But please, before responding to this, respond to my previous post.....

While the chances are fairly slim that the U.S. will ever have to invade and occupy the U.K., it is nice to know that should it happen, we will not have to worry about many armed militias.

Some states in the U.S. have laws that are close to those there, but none so drastic. For example, Virginia, the state in which I live, is a Must Issue state. Therefore, the 'right to appeal' belongs to the police, not the citizen. If a citizen whats a gun, the police must show legal reason (with the list of reasons being quite narrow) why that citizen should not own a gun. That goes for most types of weapons, including concealed handguns. In every state that has adopted such laws, crime, particularly person-on-person crime, has drastically decreased. Go figure.

Technically, even the requirement to obtain a permit is unconstitutional but it has yet to be taken up by the supreme court. Eventually it will get there but I can't predict the outcome...even though the constitution is fairly clear on the matter.

Be worried........;)

Similarly, should the U.S. military decide to invade the U.S. they'd probably not be terribly worried about the stiff resistance from the likes of these guys:
Militia of Washington County, Arkansas
