My wife was participating in a discusson on a forum about dogs, and someone said that their dog had heartworms and asked if there was an all-natural remedy. Responses were mixed and deeply divided (of course), but had I been participating the answer would be:

Of course there's an all-natural cure. It's called "death".

I'd have continued with a rant about how heartworms are all-natural, too, and who is this person to put the life of a dog over the life of an innocent heartworm, etc., etc.

Yes, that's what I would have done...

Heh.... Maybe there is. And when my vet shows me studies showing that a natural remedy works as well as the medication I give them now, then I'll switch.

I guess by "all natural" they mean something only somewhat processed by humans and not "natural" as opposed to "supernatural". I wonder where medicines that don't come from nature originate?

Speaking of origins, everyone knows there's no such things as heartworms anyway, because an Intelligent Designer would never create something so offensive to human sensibilities. . . .

"Herbs such as Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), Clove Flower Buds (Eugenia caryophyllata), Garlic (Allium sativum), Spearmint Herb (Mentha spicata), Turmeric Root (Curcuma longa), Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), and Wormwood (Artemisia annua) are examples of what can be used to formulate an effective preventative and as part of a treatment program. I don't know, maybe this article is accurate (but when I read it, I wasn't overwhelmed with confidence for some reason), but the idea of giving a dog wormwood to prevent worms, just seems to smack a bit of homeopathy.
