Merged Musk buys Twitter!/ Elon Musk puts Twitter deal on hold....

Could be a disaster, reinforcing/increasing the world of post-fact-reality. I hope not.

I'm less concerned about Rump's repeal of his Twitter ban. The news media is really where most of his publicity comes from and he gets that out anyway. For example his latest is calling Prince Harry under the thumb of Markle in the Piers Morgan interview. Rump does that specifically to get a news media response and sure enough, it did.

Rump claims he won't go back to Twitter if Musk allows it. I predict that stand won't last long.

But again, I think the worst is yet to come if Musk keeps to his assertion to make Twitter more free speech friendly. I take that to mean all false claims and CTs are welcome.

It's not like this is much of a change of pace. Most of these social media companies are run by silicon valley techno-libertarian ghouls.

I suppose there's a chance that Musk could make a real mess of it, but it's not like that would be any great loss. If his policies are obnoxious enough the service will become less popular, perhaps be supplanted by another.

Didn't Musk get into some kind of trouble for tweeting an inaccurate slur about a rescue diver helping recover kids? When he says "free-speech friendly," I think he means that he should have a platform to say whatever idiotic thing he wants without risk of getting booted. Remember his manipulation of the digital coin markets?

He's also gotten into trouble for making comments on twitter that ran afoul of insider trading regulations.

The odd part about this is that many of Musk's biggest problems in life come from the dumb things he says on Twitter.

He would be better off (and probably much more popular) if he stayed off Twitter altogether.

Instead, he bought it.:boggled::eek:

Isn't that how the rich usually make their problems go away?

Sure - but his problems were not with twitter itself. He would have been in trouble regardless of which platform he used to say things about stock prices or baseless accusations against people.

It just seems an odd choice. But he loves attention, and this gets him a ton more attention.

That Musk has become the darling of the far right should give pause to the liberals we have here who are also members of the Musk Personality Cult.
And we have a few...people whose politics if left of center but who still worhip Musk as a Missiah figure.

I predict yuge disappointment in MAGA Chud land.

Their hero who they slavishly and obsequiously adore, the over-rated and unfunny Elon Musk, will either attempt to get rid of ToSs altogether and make Twitter even more of a toxic cesspool than it is already and then have to bring some rules back to the forum to stop it completely driving away sane users… with the same MAGA chuds complaining that the feed is full of porn and crazy unhinged unChristian stuff.

OR…..

He won’t do much and will piss off all his disciples who thought it would be that grand Wilkilieaks exposure of 9/11 that never happened.

Then the conspiraloons who thought Elon was exposing the plot will turn out to be part of the plot.

He won the defamation case. He fought in a court of law for the right to call random people he doesn't like pedophiles with no evidence and won.
He argued that the 'pedo guy' tweet was meant to be an insult, not a statement of fact.
