Why, OMIGOSH!! How could that be?? Well, because they can put whatever they want to in them because of the "Minimal quality control", that's why.

vitamins, along with minerals, herbs and amino aids, can cause a positive test. "The regulations that oversee the nutritional industry and requirements for quality control are minimal and there is no guarantee that the product contents are as advertised," it states.

Oh, I should mention that the article is about banned Olympian. He tested positive for steriod use and suffered all the consequences just because he took some supplement.

Good article. It definately fits a 'what's the harm' scheme. YOu ought to save it as a seperate file, for archive purposes..just a thought.

Of course it's astonishing the number of athletes who test positive for steriods who never took any. I wonder if any of them were fibbing when they said that they hadn't been taking anything.

And you have Senator Orrin Hatch to thank for that. It's his Dietary Supplement and Health Education Act (why the word "education" is in there, I'll never undestand) that has plunged the U.S. back into the era of snake oil. Yes, you can put literally anything into a bottle, call it anything you want, and make practially any claim you want, and there is little anyone can do about it.

IIRC, I think they've found all sorts of nasty things in 'supplements' (wasn't there something recently involving 'Traditional' Chinese herbs?), such as ephedrin and manure.
