MSN Hotmail Through GMail

Okay, so I must say that Hotmail sucks. It takes too long to load and even it if it was good I wouldn't use it since I've been using GMail for quite some time now and love it dearly.

Now, GMail has the ability to access other e-mail accounts that have POP3 or IMAP protocols. I can't find any IMAP or POP3 setting in hotmail and my searches online say it doesn't have any.

So my question is, do any of you know a free easy way to access Hotmail through GMail?

I know a thing or two about this as I worked in tech support and hardware support for a number of years. As it is you can't access hotmail through pop3 or gmail or any other service with a free account. You need to have a premium account which incurs a monthly cost (not sure how much) which gives you extra features like POP3 and mail forwarding.

If you have an old hotmail account (more than 5 years old) a program like hotmail popper http://www.boolean.ca/hotpop/ may work to allow you to download hotmail in your mail client.

Probably the best and cheapest way to access your hotmail and gmail together is to use www.netvibes.com which is a free service that you can set up all your different web apps and email accounts, myspace and facebook accounts all on a single page. I have been using it for about a month and won't go back. I never checked my facebook or hotmail hardly because I couldn't be bothered logging in every time. Since I started using netvibes I check them all the time because they are on my home page along with all my podcasts, news and rss feeds (including the JREF forum which I am reading through netvibes right now).

So unfortunately there is no direct way to access hotmail through G-mail but netvibes is a good solution. A similar service would be http://www.google.com/ig if you want to keep everything google.

Any more questions please ask!

mobile

Many service providers are offering a MOBILE version of their websites, and they load like lightning (designed for iPhone, Treo, Blackberry, etc).
The OP said that his main complaint was "it takes too long to load" and I believe that mobile log-in solves that specific issue.
(Although DiskoVilante then went on to state: "even it if it was good I wouldn't use it...")

another way

Don't have enough posts yet, a Google will get you there too though...

get Izymail first, and set it up to get Hotmail. Then in Gmail:

Setting up Mail Fetcher

To set up Mail Fetcher:

1. Click Settings from the top of any email page.
2. Click Accounts.
3. In the Get mail from other accounts section, click Add another mail account.
4. Enter the full email address of the account you'd like to access, then click Next Step.

The rest is straight forward methinks.

I don't use hotmail. Does it not have some way of automatically forwarding emails (as gmail does)?

If so, just get it to forward all emails to your gmail account.

It doesn't. You have to pay for it, and my goal was not to forward emails, but to login and access my hotmail through Gmail.
