It never ceases to amaze me how many people will blindly follow someone who is an obvious moron. The latest Pat Robertson example, in discussing the recent tornadoes in the U.S.:
If people were praying he would have intervened. You could pray. Jesus stilled the storm. You could still storms
Ya' know the most ironic thing about this? All across North America, tons of Christians have been praying for years that God would shut Robertson's mouth...yet he still keeps ranting. The fact he's still ranting is probably one of the best proofs of God's non-existence that there is. For all the damage done by those tornadoes, it is the whirlwinds of hateful and bigoted crap that keep gushing from this man's mouth that cause the greatest damage.

You are not seriously comparing the rampaging death and destruction from tornadoes against the simpleton prittle prattle of whomever are you?

This man promotes hatred and intolerance that do far more damage and last much longer than the tornadoes.

It would be so awesome if Pat's house would be visited by some kind of natural disaster.

He says something like this every time there's a big natural disaster in the news, so this is no surprise.

I'm with Brattus.

More than 30 people lost their lives during these tornadoes, and many more lost their health, homes, and/or livelihoods.

Comparing Robertson's drivel to those very real disasters trivializes what these people are going through.

Please provide evidence that Robertson's screeds have done "far more damage" than more than 90 tornadoes killing over 30 people.

The fellow who took the family into his home said they were all holding hands and praying while the storm tore the house apart and killed everyone but him. He was tossed 50 feet into the air.
Not particularly effective..... I wonder, is there a specific anti-tornado prayer?

Pat Robertson will sell you one for only a $150 (weekly) "freewill offering".

The closest we can get is the "Hail" Mary.

God is immutable and knows the future in advance. Praying doesn't change dick.

The point is, it IS doing damage. Let's not trivialise that.

I can just see God's reaction: "Oh, great. Two days ago you were saying 'thy will be done' this and 'mysterious ways' that, but now you want me to completely revise my plans after I've gone to all that trouble to whip up a really wicked tornado? FINE. Have it your way, yah big BABY."

The jaggoff demoralizes and dehumanizes gays, women, children, atheists and others nearly every time he opens his uneducated yap. I think that has consequences, don't you?

Part of Pat Robertson's arrogance is in his assumption that people were not praying to be delivered from cyclonic storms. How could he possibly know? Also, the "you should have prayed harder," line, delivered to people who have lost everything, is callous as hell.

Oh, absolutely.

Now, let's line up every single one of those people -- every individual that has ever been demoralized or dehumanized by Pat Robertson in this entire career -- and let's give that group a choice. Either:
1) A tornado sweeps through the Midwest and kills 30 people, and Pat Robertson never says another word for the rest of his life, OR
2) Pat Robertson continues to rant about how people deserve to die, but no tornado.

What do you think they'll say?

No hate-filled speech, no matter how vile, is as damaging as losing a loved one. The comparison is inappropriate.

Oh, absolutely.
Where you should have stopped. I know of a suicide due to the hostile attitudes towards homosexuals fostered by the bilge of jaggoffs like Robertson. I'm sure others do as well.

He creates hatred. He's a jaggoff.

The news is unhelpful cherry picking people's stories of praying and the tornados passed. There were several clips played again and again. You cannot interview the dead to see if they made similar pleas and the tornados killed them anyway.

I know of murders fostered by hate speech.

But apparently the dead people should be glad it wasn't a tornado that killed them.

But the tornado didn't have a choice, it just acted like a tornado is supposed to act. Pat Robertson on the other hand has the choice to keep his mouth shut.

Loved one killed by a tornado = very sad
Being told that your loved one was killed by a tornado because you didn't pray hard enough (i.e. it's your fault) = idiotic and infuriating

Also, Pat Robertson is supposedly a holy Christian man. Does hearing him speak make you think of Jesus Christ or Pat Robertson?
