More better battery for plug-in cars?

I just noticed this news story about a battery breakthrough, and was wondering about the legitimacy. Apologies if this has been covered already.

It sounds as legitimate as almost any other process discovery done by a commercial company. As to whether all the projections made in the article pan out in the long run, that's another problem, but not unlike a new cancer therapy starting trials, or the promises being made for thorium melted salt reactors before a scaled prototype is constructed, etc. Businesses are in competition for capital; some guesses that don't pan out are part of the territory.

My money is that in two years time it would not be in production, at least not by them or anyone they sell the idea to.
