Michael Moore's "Slacker Uprising"

Nice bit of Spamming the forum, Oliver.

Next time you decide to open a thread linking to some commercial content, watch the movie first, absorb the content, develop an opinion, and post your comments on what you think.

Instead of just coming in here as a Michael Moore shill advertiser. Which is what it looks like you attempted to do.

That's a bit harsh, Webfusion.

It's simply a link to a video.
Admittedly, I won't be watching, but i'm sure there'll be some folks who'll appreciate the link.

The movie appears to be free in youtube. Why do you say it's commercial content?

Michael Moore is not expecting to earn anything? It is a commercial movie, plain and simple, and Moore is doing blatant viral marketing. Which Oliver has just contributed to, using the JREF Forum, thank you very much.

Nope, everytime I've done that the thread ended up being some off-topic
revolt against me. This time I started the thread first and didn't make
any attack point other than not having seen it.

Anyway: I liked it. Especially the Part about the Rebublicans. :)

I have investigated further and discovered that there is indeed no commercial motive:
Moore said that "Slacker Uprising" cost about $2 million to make and that he will end up paying about $1 million out of his pocket. Neither he nor the distributor, Brave New Films, plan to profit from the release.

As for my saying Oliver was 'shilling' and trying to generate interest in a viral manner, I apologize, since that obviously was not his intent.

Carry on.

Will watch it in 5 weeks when I get home to a propper connection.
Thanks for the link.

Michael Moore is a GARBAGE filmmaker. He is absolutely terrible. He does not care about facts, only making money. I see why Oliver likes him.

Uh-huh. You surely saw the movie to come to this conclusion, didn't you?
And nope: I like the movie, I didn't say I like him.

Well, I actually called him a religious whacko the last time his name came up.

"Slacker uprising" is an oxymoron. If that is the point then there isn't much point at all.

There's more than that. Even as a Republican, you actually may like
some of the things being said by others in contrast to what Moore
says.

(Puzzled look)

If the slackers couldn't be motivated enough to get a job, a wife, an education, a family, etc. ... things that are important ... what are the chances they'd be motivated enough to get political change?

This reminds me of (I think) madam de Rouchefeld's (sp?) saying: "many who cannot lead their own lives, or that of their wives and children, are foolish enough to think they can lead a nation."

Of course if we can ignore Moore because of the problems with his prior movies, we can ignore Kopel because of the problems the Independance Insititute has been up to.

I haven't watched the movie, but I know a poor debate tactic when I see one.

Interesting. You link me to blog (Hardly a source) about ONE person who was causing trouble in the Independent Institute. Your "source" also shows that he has been removed from the institute. So what is your point?

Michael Moore has a history of making deceitful biased movies. I NEVER said that his most recent movie was good OR bad. I said "Michael Moore is a GARBAGE filmmaker." I never made a comment about the movie. I merely gave an opinion, not a "debate tactic". In fact, I was not trying to debate anything.

When Oliver asked me if I had seen the movie to come to that conclusion I said no. I watched previous movies and that is how I know Michael Moore is deceitful.

So do yourself a favor. When reading through posts, go nice and slow and read for comprehension (You may need to read through twice). This will allow you to have a better understanding of people's messages and allow for you to make MUCH more intelligent responses (and avoid looking sully again).

And what is scary is that once in a while one of those manages to find his way into a postion of power.
Adolf Hitler comes to mind.
And don't throw a GOdwin accusation at me. I think it is a perfect example of someone who had made a mess of his life, but was convinced he was Germany's savior. And just looked at what happened.
