How does one push one's movie for academy award? Seems you can't do much unless the judges really like the movie to start with. maybe they only respond to complaints like the FCC.![]()

Ian Osborne said:I should imagine it makes a huge difference when it comes to selling advertising for TV syndication, which in turn means it commands more money for the syndication rights themselves. Also, it could make it easier to get funding for the next film...

The Central Scrutinizer said:True and true. Plus, there can be a post Oscar bump at the box office. F911 isn't out anymore, but in the past, the best picture would sometimes be re-released after the show.
Ed said:The other guys learned like, a script, got serious funding, memorized lines, went on location, acted, directed etc. MM knocked 9/11 together in an editing room between doughnuts. A cute reguritation of stock footage and some oh, so clever interviews is akin to Mystery Science Theater 3000 being nominated.
The Central Scrutinizer said:So? Are you equating budget with quality? So a documentary can't win best picture?
Ed said:No, contribution. That's why documentaries are a seperate catagory.

I hope it wins best picture.
I hope it wins best director.
I hope it wins best editing.
I hope it wins best screenplay.
I hope it wins best actor.
I hope it wins best actress.
I hope it wins best supporting actor.
I hope it wins best supporting actress.
I hope it wins everything in sight.
I hope its sweep of the awards makes James Cameron and Titanic look like a pathetic loser.
I hope Michael Moore gets up on the stage a dozen times on Oscar Night and makes a dozen speeches about how Bush and the Republicans and Halliburton want to rape and kill your grandma - and not necessarily in that order.
I hope every speech Michael Moore makes is interrupted a dozen times with standing ovations.
I hope every ovation interruption has a shot panning over the Hollywood glitterati as they ecstatically cheer their hero.
