Well, it had to happen.

Just saw this in a Fox News Crawl ...

Michael Jackson has written a song for disaster relief and he's looking for musicians to join him in the recording.

In order to not be TOO cynical and I certainly don't want to assume his motives, I will forgo the jokes ... for now.

must...control...the cynicism...

It does suck.

But I suspect someone else will be willing to commence the "bashing".

I'm going to inject a serious note ...

MJ has raised a lot for charity in the past - I have no idea how well it's been spent but that's besides the point, here. I won't take that from him.

As for motivation: I actually suspect that he'd be doing this even if he hadn't been tried (recently) for diddling boys.

There's no legal logic and maybe no logic at all to it but I still think it's icky. He's icky. It's icky that when I google it, there are pages there. And if this helps him gain acceptance again - very icky.

Sorry, Wildcat. But it's all I've got.

Are you sure it was not ALAN Jackson or one of those other C&W sucking-up-disaster-publicity guys.

It is a ballad. It is going to be called

"Send those Young Boys to Me"

When they're wet and need warmin'
and Bush won't pay the fee
I tell ya brother
Just send those young boys to meeeeeee

Okay, we're all having fun bashing MJ here, but, c'mon. The guy knows a little about writing songs, and if he's willing to do it to raise money to help the victims, what's wrong with that? Okay, he's icky, but he's doing what he does best to try to help out, which is more than a lot of people can say.

Would you rather he got out a boat filled with his entourage and went around N.O. in an incompetent search for survivors he could help out of the water, with a camera guy along to document his heroics?

Not that I'm thinking of anyone in particular...

And, yeah, I know MJ's probably doing this for some good publicity he so sorely needs, and so what?

And old BPSCG does what he's able
pimpin' and spinnin' like mad
But even he will come down off his tree
And like you brother
Will send those young boys to meeeeeee

(Think Willie Nelson in Wag the Dog for an idea of the actual performance.)

You recall the scene? Willie is making up a song called "Sit on my lap" and continues unoreterbed as Dustin Hoffman tries to get his point accross.

It was funny to me. Too bad it requires exposition.:D
