Miami #1 in Road Rage

Somehow, I'm not even remotely surprised.

Now, I have to drive 16 miles down the highway, taking 40 minutes to reach my destination. I'll let you know how many illegal lane changes, turning without signaling, and tailgating I see.

I've always said that road rage in my area could be reduced by 90% simply by enforcing "Keep right except to pass".

I have no data to back that up, of course, but in my experience the mad drivers are mad because someone else won't get out of the way when they're supposed to.

I don't buy the survey. Look:

The most courteous drivers can be found in Portland, Oregon; Pittsburgh; the Seattle-Tacoma area; St. Louis; and Dallas-Fort Worth, the survey found.

These behaviors are very nuanced. True, the do-gooders of Seattle can be very polite when arriving at a stop sign, waving you to go first, and smiling. But twice in the last couple months guys in pick-up trucks motioned to me to get out of my car to have a fist fight. And I have gotten the middle finger from angry yuppie drivers.

I don't think it is my driving. The middle fingers come out around 5:20pm when stressed-out workers are tail-gaiting me to get home 30 seconds ahead of time.

The pick-up truck deal is the same here as in every other state. Hillbilly might-makes-right attitudes.

I have traveled a lot by car, and I'd easily single out Boston because of the winding roads in combination with the tailgating and plus everyone there honks their horn as an extention of their big mouths.

I need to run some people off the road today to try to catch up! We must all do our part to unseat Miami's Road Rage dynasty!

Ha! I get that here twice a week. How dare I not make an illegal left turn from a two-way street to a one-way street on a red light. Obviously, I should commit a moving violation so I can get out of the way of the guy behind me who wants to do the same thing.

Doesn't surprise me. Awhile back our Governator made the observation that latinas with black blood are "very hot." Californians who drive up to Canada -- or anywhere, really -- regularly comment on how polite and slow everyone else drives.

We've found that the easiest way to tick people off is to obey the rules of the road to the letter. Drive the speed limit, slow down for turns, etc. It's fun watching people have temper tantrums like spoiled two-year-olds because you dared to stop for a red light...

It's fun watching stupid passive-aggressive types crap their pants when you point a .38 special at them as you go by.

Yeah, because pissing people off on purpose will reduce road rage....

One problem in Miami is that you sometimes get on to the right side of the freeway and have to exit to the left a half mile later by crossing five lanes of heavy traffic. Also, lanes often end on one side while new ones appear on the other, so to avoid exiting you have to keep changing lanes. The last time I was there I saw a lot of people with a death grip on the wheel, shouting angrily to themselves. It didn't seem to have anything to do with driving though.

It's fun watching beligerent idiots gets arrested and sent to prison for threatening people with a firearm for the crime of obeying the law.

You ever hear the Love Line's Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew play the "Germany Or Florida" game?

WIKI

Germany or Florida?
Germany or Florida is a game that originated at Jimmy Kimmel Live with the staff of writers who discovered a correlation in the news stories they would read for joke material. Adam observed that "All weird stories emanate from either Germany or Florida." Originally intended as a game to be used on Kimmel's show, it was rejected and Adam decided to bring it to Loveline. The object of the game is to have a listener read off a strange, macabre, or just plain weird news story and have the hosts (and guests) choose Germany or Florida.

That sounds like a lot of fun, actually.
