The man, Domingo Shilon Shilon, was also hacked with machetes Sunday by the crowd in San Juan Chamula, a majority Catholic township on the outskirts of the colonial city of San Cristobal, 460 miles (735 kms) southeast of Mexico City.

Shilon, 50, was caught by the crowd in a neighborhood known as Rancho Narvaez, state police said. After killing him, the crowd partially burned his body.

Unbelievable! How can $hite like this happen in this day and age? I must be even more naive than I realized...

The Catholic Church, Inquisition, burning witches. Somehow it's all related. Go figure.

Chiapas is not "this day and age". A visit to Chiapas is like time travelling. I suspect the on-going disorder in Chiapas might have more to do with what happened thant "witchcraft". Nevertheless, group hysteria is not limited to places like Chiapas. Remember the McMartin trials a few years ago. True, no one was killed but people were held in jail for years and lives were destroyed.

Unfortunately, facts have little effect on group hysteria whether it's in Chiapas or California.

This happens in North America:

Evangelical's demonize Mormons, Catholics.

From:

Remembering Satan
by Lawrence Wright

ISBN: 0679755829

(paraphrase)

Satanic worship and/or witchcraft are attributed to various people or groups based on the religious beliefs of the accuser/s. Faith, not reason, affects the perceptions of the accuser.

The book deals with memory and how values and perceptions affect memory and how the memories motivated individual actions, accusations, criminal investigations. Interesting.

Barney The Dinosaur is a tool of Satan BTW, helping the anti-christ.

Good point. I guess Mexico doesn't have a monopoly on such crap. Neither does California - we still have Tooky Amirault incarcerated here in Massachusetts, going on 17 years now. He was accused in 84, in the same witch hunt as the McMartin's.

When I saw the thread title, I thought this was gonna be about something totally different.

The fact that he's still in prison is so shameful it's ignored. He was tried and convicted because of a political, PC-inspired, "fad" prosecution. Recovered memories have been proven to be false but this poor bastard suffers for the lies of children and the Sussex County DA.
Even the Boston Globe thinks his continued incarceration is an affront to facts and logic. [Which for the Globe is amazing since it means acknowledging reality]
Meanwhile Barney Franks continues to be Barney Franks. Go figure...
