Honey may not be magical, but as far as I’m concerned it’s the next best thing. Of course it is not “a remedy for all diseases”. It has been used and studied as a topical antibiotic.

This is a great example of religion taking something real and blowing it out of proportion.
 
Eating locally produced honey is also supposed to help alleviate respiratory allergies. I don't know if that's true or a legend, but that's what I've heard.

Chapter and verse, please? I mean, there's lots of references making honey sound wonderful as a food -- but when your staples are flat barleycakes and the occasional fig (bleaggh! ), I imagine honey was quite a treat. This was long before the advent of Häagen-Dazs, remember. I'm not aware of any outrageous Biblical claims being made regarding its healing powers, though.
