I broke my leg in March, and now have the all clear to walk on it. I was prescribed PT, but they did some weird things. One included a vibrator that was supposed to release endorphins or something...actually, what it did was knock one of the "buttons" used in the surgery loose. Now it is floating around and the suture site has re-opened and is infected.

So, does PT have any benefit, or should I just walk on it? I am doing OK walking on it, other than the pain from the oozing-pus-infection-site.

I did PT (Physical Therapy for rjh01) before my surgery when I was told it was just a slipped disc. It was somewhat helpful, though my degenerating spine cancelled out any short term benefits, obviously.

After the surgery I did not do PT. Amazingly enough I wasn't even sent home with a back brace. I walk and run fine now, but that's not to say PT doesn't have benefits. I think it depends on the therapist you see and how well they understand and communicate with you about your specific situation.

It can be very harmful if the therapist is not working well with you, but again, it can certainly help. I think there is something there in theory that may be lost in practice depending on the situation.
