Minnesota is shut down right now and lots of government employee are not working. The 2 sides don't seem to be able to come to any agreement but now now a real crisis looms.

Beer Today Gone Tomorrow

In fact, most non-emergency services are closing up shop. Those services considered critical, such as state police, prisons and nursing homes, remain open only by court order.

It’s dire.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the state might be running out of beer....

The first nail in the beer coffin involves MillerCoors brewing company... Without a registration, they may not legally distribute or sell beer in the state.

Amazing. Beer actually is the only thing that really matters to them. I've long suspected as much, but now we have proof.

I predict the way the federal parties will "agree" to extend the debt limit will be some version of the McConnell backup plan that was concocted so that House Republicans can vote to increase the debt ceiling while being able to tell their base that they voted against raising the debt ceiling.

They'll vote to give Obama the authority to raise the debt ceiling, while Congress can override his decision only with a 2/3 vote. So they can claim Obama did this against their will, even though the debt ceiling is purely the creation of the Congress, and the Congress has the authority to repeal it or raise it.

This is a pretty underhanded way of reaching an "agreement", and I predict Democrats in both houses will go along with it despite the silly political advantage it gives the GOP (or at least the Tea Party fringe of the GOP) because it is in the best interest of the country to raise the debt ceiling and avoid defaulting on our debt.
