Mayan Calendar

Has anyone heard about the Mayan Calendar that supposedly predicts the end of the world at dec. 21 2012. I've been reading on this subject recently and to me it seems like a bunch of woo. I have heard this calendar is the most accurate calendar every created. Anyone else looked into this calendar/endtimes mystery?

Also I have heard the I-ching, and some guys computer program comes up with the same dates.

The Maya, as a homogenous, independent and defined civilization, only existed for around 800 years.

The Egyptians existed as such for over 4,000 years, and their calendar never ends.

I guess it comes down to who you think is more credible.

It's just a calendar that ends! Or it's circular, I don' tknow for sure.

These theories of the end of the world in 12/21/2012 were snatched by New Age gurus right away and it spread like the plague.

I always thought it was pretty uppity of humans who thought they could cause the end of an entire planet, just because they said so. Some group of humans arbitrarily start "time" at some point and claim it will end at some other point. If you can believe that, I've got a used car I would like to sell you.
