Australian Skeptics show, once again, that Homeopathy does not work.

Before the 2004 convention, we marched into a Sydney Pharmacy, yes, a pharmacy, and bought almost $100 worth of worthless sleeping pills. Then, as you can see in the video, Richard Saunders, Prof. Colin Keay, Dr. David Brookman, Barry Williams, Dr. Phil Plait, Peter Bowditch and Dr. Steve Roberts took the lot. We ate enough sleeping pills each that we should now all be dead.

I don't know if it is mentioned in the video, but there are some "medicines" which are marketed as homeopathic, but which actually contain (measurable) active ingredients.

So, don't down some potion/pill labelled "homeopathic" as a means of showing it to be worthless/harmless unless you have first made sure it truly has no measurable active ingredients.

Very good point. The ones we took are mass produced, millions each year. The ones from a local homeopath, made up in their "labs" are more likely to contain (measurable) active ingredients.

If, IF, the 'medicine' was prepared with ingrediants as listed on the box, then I agree you have nothing to worry about.

What would worry me is the possiblity that their manufacture was shoddy enough to include actual substances in the finished product. Wasn't there a big to-do down under a few years ago with a homeopathic manufacturing firm that had horrible quality control and whose products had all manner of contaminants?

I still seriously worry about you guys taking this stuff :( For starters, I hope no one ever again takes a homeopathic "medicine" mailed to them from a quack. If a homeopathic "doctor" mailed me a package of any kind, I think I might just call a bomb squad :(

I think the previous poster was concerned about adulteration, rather than mislabelling. This is one reason why quackbusting has some risk.

I recall a few years ago, an investigation into a cult that claimed to have telekinetic martial arts powers was able to demonstrate their 'knock out move' from a distance. It turned out to be a Taser, and the investigator could have been killed.

We have to remember that some of these guys are nuts.

I think anything 30C and above is very very devoid of any ingredients, unless it's the sugar pills. Then watch your sugar intake if you take a fancy to it. Although, those stupid pills are so tiny that I don't think there's much danger in downing 5 or so boxes of them in a sitting.

See post 5. That means it may not be harmless.

The chances the person selling it ever even saw the supposed active ingredient are 99.99% nil. Most just pass on the sugar pills or water. Peter Bowditch has downed two whole bottles of different remedies with no problem.

Just think, if someone is passing on homeopathic meningitis "remedy", you won't see any trace of a microbe in the "remedy".
