I noticed Randi did some commentary on various kinds of enhanced water in a recent Swift. A friend of mine just brought this ad to my attention.

For only $199, the Sharper Image will sell you a device for making "Ozone Water," thus permitting you to live chemical free, decontaminate all your food and produce, and kill germs on all your surfaces.

And remember, Ozone is natural and completely harmless to healthy cells.

In reality, Ozone is very nasty to your lungs, and although it will kill bacteria about as well as a few drops of bleach in a pail of water, it has no magical properties which will remove harmful chemicals from your water or food, or, as they claim, make your ordinary fruits and vegetables as healthy as that expensive pesticide-free "organic" stuff.

Also, this piece of crap probably costs about $10 to manufacture.

Soak your produce in a dilution of hydrogen peroxide. It's more effective and way cheaper.

Conspiracy Nation!

Everytime I read something like this it always floors me how mainstream this is - it also makes me wonder about the ethical standards of marketing on a whole with more legitimate products.

i liked this statement:
Washing produce in ozonated water significantly reduces pesticide residues on the surface of produce. With the lotus system, expensive "organic" isn't the only way to enjoy food with less pesticides!
well, washing produce in tap water will significantly reduce pesticide residues, too. and as for organic, i think most people would argue that isnt not the surface residue that concerns people about pesticides- it oges beneath the surface (i'm not an organic foods disciple, i am just saying)
