A note to all who are attending TAM 7 - you will want to be around on Sunday 12 July 2009 at 1pm for the Live Challenge Test of Connie Sonne.

Assuming Ms. Sonne appears (and we have no reason to believe she won't) it's going to be a heck of a test with a huge audience and all kinds of opportunities to engage in the Challenge in a way you never have before.

This, in other words, is gonna be big.

When scheduling your flight home, keep this event in mind. And keep an eye on Swift for more information on what we're doing to make this test an event you'll remember forever.

And be sure to keep in mind that Chip and I will be holding an MDC workshop during TAM as well. Sign up for an in-depth look at how Challenge tests are created, and how you can get the skills to create one as well before you see it in action on Sunday.

Where will this take place? I'd love to see this actually happen. Will the JREF have the Million ready? Is there enough security for the winner after she gets the cash?

Or is this some kind of Pre-test thing with absolutely no money being risked at all?

Cool. Thread with Ms Sonne's details. My dad was a water driller and we always had dowsers around, so I'm always especially interested in their claims.

I assume this is her qualifying test as RemieV is that other thread sez:

If all three of Ms. Sonne's selections are correct, the test will be considered a success and Ms. Sonne will begin negotiations for a final Challenge test.

Banachek is conducting the test? Awesome! So glad I'm staying an extra day now.

Hubby's boss actually "dowsed" at the plant one day and hubby was all taken up in it. I need hubby to see this one. I tried to no avail to explain the ideomotor effect. I hope that he learns at least something after seeing the test.

I'm so there. I wish I could attend the workshop too, but I think it's being held on Thursday afternoon before I actually arrive. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Right, I guess 1/1000 is something. I'm quite impressed that she is willing to stipulate that she will get all three trials correct.

I think I would have preferred a few more tests and a possibility of missing once and still passing the test. If I'm not mistaken she has a 3% chance of getting 2/3 trials right out of pure luck.

Is this person a Stoog sent in by the JREF?
Seems like you'd want the JREF MDC to bring the money. Why would you do it for free?

As you have been informed of many times now, there are two stages to the challenge. First they must pass the preliminary test. That is what is going to be done in Vegas.

Considering the waste of time you put yourself and everyone involved with the challenge through, you should answer your own question. Why do it for free?

I'm confused by the question... why should someone be paid for taking the preliminary challenge?

So the test is really two tests and the JREF MDC gets to change things between the two tests provided the claimant jumps thru the first hoop successfully? Correct?
So the first one requires absolutely NO RISK on the part of the JREF .... Right ... So it really ISN'T a million dollar challenge since the million is not "UP FOR GRABS" as randi always says?

Why SHOULD there be a risk to the JREF? If the claimant can do what they claim, they'll earn the million, even if it does require some effort on their part.
