During the October 26 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh "apologize[d]" for being "wrong" in "speculat[ing]" that actor Michael J. Fox either "didn't take his medication or he was acting" in a recent campaign advertisement for Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill, but then immediately returned to attacking Fox by baselessly accusing him of intentionally taking too much medication to induce the tremors visible in the ad. Highlighting an October 25 interview Fox gave on NBC's Access Hollywood, during which, Limbaugh stated, Fox "himself said he took too much medication" before shooting the McCaskill ad, Limbaugh declared: "He didn't do that when he goes on Boston Legal, but it happened for the taping of this ad; and I think the reason for that is so you would really, really hate Republicans." In fact, while Fox acknowledged on Access Hollywood that his tremors were a result of having taken "too much medication," he did not say he had intentionally done so. Indeed, after Limbaugh's remark, Fox appeared on the October 26 edition of the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and confirmed that the tremors he had experienced during the taping of the ad occurred because it is difficult to "calculate" the correct dosage of medication and, "ometimes, it kicks in too hard."

Rush Limbaugh is one of the few people who, if I saw him choking in a restraurant or bleeding on the street, I wouldn't lift a finger to help. He is the perfect symbol of the administration he backs so well; he's bloated, obnoxious, hypocritical, self-important and wrong!

If I saw him in dire straits, instead of helping him I would simply (and loudly) insist that he was faking.

I always figured he'd wind up choking to death while attempting to eat his own pillow while asleep.

Well if CNN's (ex) anchorwoman, Daryn Kegan is actually his squeeze, he's likely NOT going to choke on a pillow. :) She must (unfortunately) be attracted to the terminally repulsive.

Actually, I would say that Rush Limbaugh gives people a good enough reason to really hate Republicans. Seriously, if I were to be running for an office under the Republican ticket, I would distance myself as far from Limbaugh as I could, he gives Republicans a bad name.

I'm waiting for a Republican who has the guts to denounce some of the things he blathers about (has this ever happened?).

I'll gladly join you in your disdain for Limbaugh, but I think the Republicans in charge have given everyone ENOUGH reason to hate Republicans. I do, however, see Limbaugh as the poster boy for the hypocrisy of this administration.

I would so hope that I had a camera with me to document such an important event.

Imagine the headlines, "Limblob chokes to death while room full of Republicans idly watch".

Maybe with a subtitle "it wasn't their problem".

This whole event has basically just reinforced my assessment that Limbaugh is an ignorant blowhard. That's not just meant to be insult, but it is a fairly accurate description.

He clearly shows little understanding of Parkinson's here (the ignorance, part), yet he still goes on to pontificate about it despite the fact that he doesn't know squat (blowing out his arse)

I have a love hate relationship with this forum. I post here more than anywhere else. A quick look at my number of posts will reveal that I post here a lot. In fact I may very well, demonstrably, post here more than anyone else. I love the forum because it brings out such passion. I love debate and I love feeling passion so naturally politics is like a roller coaster or haunted house to me.

I hate this place sometimes because it is the one place where otherwise sensible, thoughtful and intelligent-critical thinkers act like complete idiots.

What a better way to justify Limbaughs brand of lunacy than to be the left wing version of him.

Woo.

Are you being serious? Or is this hyperbole? You'd let him die because you don't agree with his ideas and dislike the way he presents himself?

When the Republicans took control of Congress in 1994, they had, leading up to swearing in Jan 3, 1995, a series of rallies and seminars and the like preparing the new members and preparing to rule in the majority. Rush Limbaugh was a featured speaker and guest at these events. He, along with Gingrich, was the rock star in that world. That's what clued me in that these guys were going to go on a rampage of corruption and malfeasance.

Little did I know they would actually figure out a way to impeach Clinton. But even that is nothing compared to what they've done since Bush has been in office. This is what Rush represents. He's the pied piper of the most corrupt regime in American history, and damn proud of it.

If I saw Rush Limbaugh drowning 100 feet from shore, I would throw him a rope 55 feet long. I would then remind him as he drowns that I at least went more than halfway ....

Woo abounds, and it is probably a corrolary of Fern's Law that "Woo is evenly distributed throughout the universe". So I would assume that very one has thier secret woo.

Original Fern's Law "A-holes are evenly distributed throughout the universe, somedays the concentration is higher than others."

Strangely i would try to stop R. Limbaugh from choking, i wouldn't be a libertarian if I confused what he says with who he is.

I've always thought that Jane's Law has it right.

Jane's Law: The devotees of the party in power are smug and arrogant. The devotees of the party out of power are insane.

Interesting. I frequently wish for the death of Fred Phelps. I'm perhaps inconsistent in my visceral hatred of that man. But Phelps celebrates the death of American soldiers and protests at their funerals causing harm to innocent people who are suffering such terrible losses to no fault of theirs or their loved ones.

I have listened to Rush for years and I understand those who don't agree with him and even those who hold him in contempt. However he has never acted in a manner similar to Phelps. Yes, he made fun of Chelsea Clinton and he has made a number of crass and thoughtless statements as he has done here with Fox. I'll even concede that he has mocked a serious affliction suffered by my wife, RLS. He is often arrogant in his ignorance. He wallows in it at times. What I don't understand is how one goes from contempt for the man to a wish of harm to him. To do so truly requires a lack of objectivity due to emotion and ideology. There just is no getting around that fact.

If I'm inconsistent with Phelps then I would accept that and perhaps moderate my position. I'm pondering that postion.

Well, Phelps tries my compassion, on a regular basis. I would still consider keeping him from choking. mainly to tell him that he was saved by a goddess worshiping pagan, and that in exchange for his life he has to shut up.

:) I like that.

RandFan, you are way too reasonable and rational to be a real human being. From now on, I will assume that you're some sort of cyborg. :D
