Well, it appears the continued conservative outrage over Obama refusing to use his magic President powers to rid the world of Ebola continues. Now Rush Limbaugh is alleging that Obama is trying to import the disease into the USA proper as revenge against slavery....or something.

In essence it seems to be more wailing for "sealing the borders" whatever that means and closing down airports. Because that isn't a horribly ineffective and inappropriate racist overreaction at all. It seems that conservatives jump on every opportunity to advocate for this "sealing the border" nonsense. First it was waves of deadly Central American children. Then it was supposedly the Mexican ISIS brigade crossing over. Now it is Ebola that they fear. I'm expecting calls to stop an impending zombie invasion over the Rio Grande as we near Halloween. Then as we get into November "sealing the border" will be our only recourse against time traveling nanobot assassins. As we near the New Year there will be calls to do what we can to keep out Cthulhu.

When predominately black countries in Africa actually shut down borders and cancel flights from countries with high infection rates, is that a "racist overreaction" or is it only when the lily-white Rush Limbaugh calls for them?

How about when countries from Europe, the Middle East and Asia ban flights to and from West Africa, is that racist also?

I suggest installing Rush Limbaugh on the border as a scarecrow, that his terrifying visage may frighten off illegal aliens, viruses, terrorists, and Adidas shirt prayer rugs.

To Rush's credit, that's not quite as crazy as the theories of convicted felon Dinesh D'Souza.

It is when the Republican reaction to every problem is to seal the border with Mexico (for some reason Canada can't get Ebola or a phantom ISIS brigade) even though doing so will accomplish nothing regarding the supposed issue.

Along the same lines, Phyllis Schlaffly recently said that Obama wants to bring ebola to the US to make it "more like Africa".
NPR had a whole segment on right-wing nuttery about ebola and various conspiracy theories related earlier.

Have you forgotten the bit of political theatre from a couple of years ago when there was a report delivered to Congress about the horribly porous border with Canada? The investigators went to little-used, mostly uninhabited sections of the U.S.-Canada border and were shocked—shocked!—to discover they could cross into the United States from these little-used, mostly uninhabited sections!

And Canadians aren't giving up their healthcare in droves for the chance to live a miserable life in 'Murica? Shocking.

I wonder how those investigators would react if they knew about the Northwest Angle exclave?

Well, December isn't that far off, so sealing the Canadian border to keep Santa out so they can "Keep Christ in Christmas" would be quite timely.
