Ford has announced that the Mustang will be the last production model car that they will be building in the US as of 2020 due to the Tarrifs the Trump has put on Chinese materials, forcing them to drop the Ford Focus and plans for the Ford Active, a car/SUV hybrid that was supposed to go into production next year. With sales of the vehicles expected to have been only 50,000 units a year, they no longer consider it worthwhile compared to their nearly 2 million a year units in other vehicle types.

As of 2020 they will be looking towards their future markets in Vans, SUVs and Trucks.

Just wait until they get a taste of the tariffs Trump has planned for the Canada-US auto industry. He's holding the entire auto industry as ransom (extortion), if Canada doesn't bend over to his whims regarding NAFTA.

But then again, I'm sure the Ford company is smart enough to already understand what's coming down the pipeline should Trump slam tariffs on that industry... So perhaps this is a preemptive action to protect their hides before that happens, without having to actually say so out loud ?

Afterall, this wouldn't be Ford's first 'go around the sun' per se, regarding economic threats and politic mayhem going on that impacts their industry directly.

First I've heard of the Ford Active. Unfortunate - I might've been interested in that car when I eventually need to replace my Prius V. Sure that's years off in the future, but since Toyota doesn't sell the Prius V in the US anymore, I'll probably be looking for something similar-ish when the time comes.
