Reading through the thread just now, I noticed this post by user zombiebex:

...in which she says this (bolding mine):

and, when Amanda Berry was found alive in May of this year, Georgina "Gina" DeJesus was indeed one of the other two young women found held captive with her!

"they"? Or are you using that convention rather than saying "he/she"?

Yes, I say "they" rather than "he/she" when the gender is unknown. I would rather use "it" but that is not acceptable for other people.
