If today you had to vote for President, which man/women would you pick. If you don't vote, then who do you think will win. I want to see what the JREF community thinks.

Sorry for the confusion in the title. I didn't intend for that. So for the poll please vote for who you think will win or who you are voting for, and just explain why you voted the way you did. Again sorry for the confusion

You might want to add Fred Thompson.

I may not vote for him, but, if he runs, I think that he may stand a good chance.

After that, I'm torn between Hillary and Barack or Guiliani and Romney (given Romney's latest surge in some big polls).

Yes, out of the rep's Romney looked the most presidential in the debate.

There's a big difference between who would you vote for and who do you think will win.

anyway...I think Hillary will win. As for who I'm voting for...I'm still undecided between Obama and Clinton.

If Romney wasn't a Mormon I think he would have a great shot at winning. Not sure how much of the fundie vote he can get.

Why not vote for Ron Paul? If I had to pick one of the above, I'd vote for him, but I don't think he can get the nom, and the Libertarians probably don't want to run him, nor he with them.

Why are you asking two completely different questions?

The poll question is, "Who would you vote for or think will win the 08 election?" That's what I answered, and it's already ambiguous enough.

Libertarians don't want to run him? I thought he was Libertarianism.

The impression I get from Digg and Reddit...

Because Im lazy and did not want to set up two threads. Basically I want to see the communities opinion on the candidates. And asking who you think will win or who you would vote for does that. Obviously they are different questions, but based on your own life and interactions with people throughout your day, by saying who you think he/she will win shows that you or many people you know think highly of that person, at least enough for you to say he/she will win. And the other question of who you would vote for is a no brainer in terms of your opinion of that candidate. Hope that clears it up.

Well, actually who I might vote for and who I actually think will win could be very different people. Who I think will win may be dictated more on the degree of idiocy that I see in the majority of Americans rather than whether I actually believe that that person should win.

They really are two fundamentally different questions and perhaps worthy of separate polls.

Well, I guess I just give the American public too much credit. I mean, if another Bush-like president is voted into office then I will put my foot in my mouth. I guess it is also a matter of who you are personally. I would base, who I think will win, on people I talk too and interact with. And try to move away from the idiot American notion, partly because I don't want to believe that we live in such a dumb society:( , and partly because things just can't get worse than they are now:boxedin: . So should I have made two posts, probably. I didn't foresee people yelling at me about the questions. I was hoping people would just vote on the poll and tell me why they did that.

Then your data's going to be useless, you're confounding the issues. I for example *would* for Gore, but I *expect* Obama to win. Separate answers.

:seerrrr:

Who is yelling?

I'm simply saying that the way people answer to "Who will you vote for?" and "Who do you think will win?" may differ wildly, and the answer to the second may not reflect any positive opinion of the particular candidate. Also, the people with whom most people associate will likely be of at the very least similar minds, so their favored candidate still may not represent who they and their friends all fundamentally believe will actually win the stupid election - I think that the 2000 presidential election showed me that.

Your answer confuses me in its hostility.

Is it too late to modify the poll? I would add Gingrich. I would vote for Edwards.

But Gore, as of now, isn't running for President. Then just state in your post your reasoning for why and what you voted for in the poll... It's very simple. People are making a lot more out of this than I intended.

If I could go back and fix the title of the poll I would but I can't. So there is no reason to sit here and waste time telling me I messed up on the title.

Im sorry for the confusion everybody.. Now lets get back to talking about who you would vote for and "SORRY" or think would win the 08 election. And if you feel compelled, just state in a post why you voted the way you did.

Please no more telling me about the title.... I know and I apologize.:)

Sorry, yelled was the wrong word. I was not trying to come off hostile. I just hope the public invests some time in researching the candidates this election so we don't get screwed over again.
