Anyone see Jon Stewart on Crossfire today?

Looked like there was no love lost between Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson.

I thought this passage was interesting:
First, though, we will begin, as we always do, with the best little political briefing in television, the CROSSFIRE "Political Alert."

When he wants to look moderate, Dick Cheney invokes his lesbian daughter, Mary, on the campaign trail. When Republican Senate candidate Alan Keyes viciously attacked their daughter, Dick and Lynne Cheney said nothing. When John Edwards praised their evident love for their daughter, Vice President Cheney said this.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DICK CHENEY, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: Let me simply thank the senator for the kind words he said about my family and our daughter. I appreciate that very much.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BEGALA: But now, suddenly, after four debate losses and 18 days until the election, the Cheneys are shocked, shocked, that John Kerry mentioned their daughter in a debate.

There is an important lesson here. If you're gay and you want your rights protected by the Republicans, it helps to have a daddy who wants to distract the country from the millions he made from Halliburton, the billions he ran up in debt, and the war he lied us into.

And now that I've read the transcript with Jon Stewart, I think HE should run for president.

I want a Stewart-Maher ticket! Unfortunately, it would probably be too Jewish ever to be accepted by the population at large.

Jon Stewart is an uncivil thug, who apparently has taken lessons from Teresa Heinz-Dirtbag as to how to behave in public. He's like one of those liberal wack-jobs who show up at the academy awards and bore and insult people with their crackpot political ideas, or like the political naif Linda Ronstadt lecturing patrons in Las Vegas who've paid a lot of money to see a show. He was operating at about the level of Beavis and Butthead, who discover the word "dick" and then like to use it around adults for shock value. He was whining about the lack of real debate, when in fact as Carlson pointed out he had Lurch on his show and tossed him softball, actually puff ball, questions. Of course, the same liberal media who said Teresa's piggish public eruptions were "saucy", etc, will spin this punk's verbal garbage in a similar way.

Sounds like your feelings were seriously hurt. :(

Really? Hadassah Liberman? Oy vey, what a short memory you have.

Ahhhh good old character assassination. Soooo much easier to paint someone as a "bad" or "mean" person than to actually address any points he might make. Forget that he's on Comedy Central and forget that he also gave a free pass to Bob Dole and numerous administration officials including the Press Secretary among others. I didn't hear anyone (except Dems) complaining about the long list of Republican/Conservative guests given softballl questions and free passes on the show.

Good grief, talk about selective memory.

I think his point was that while some folks might be able to accept one Jew on a ticket there are (sadly) still a lot of people who would question having a two Jew ticket.

I don't think that network executive realize that John Stewart is a COMEDIAN, not a newscastor, pundit, or journalist. The Daily Show gets higher ratings than most news political programs because people are sick of news and political programs.

John Stewart isn't even a good comedian. He's a twit, his jokes stink, he can't deliver a punchline to save his life, and his stammering and cutesy-boyish personality is just damn annoying (expecially considering he's, what? 40 something?). The only thing he's good at on the daily show is reading from a script. I love the daily show for it's clever writing and it's supporting cast. John Stewart is just a dueche-bag that I put up with.

The decision to put John Steward as lead-anchor on the Daily Show is almost as bad as the decision to put Bob Saget as the lead character on Full House.

I used to think Craig Kilborn was great as lead-anchor. Haven't seen him since he made that glorious stumble into late-night obscurity.

Um, isn't Stewart one of the chief writers for TDS? Whenever it wins an emmy for writing, he is always up there accepting the award.

Ooooooooooo yaaaaaaaaa .... "points".....like calling Tucker Carlson a dickhead on television.

His ratings would contradict that assertion.

Believe it or not, that's not the only time that my personal opinion did not agree with television ratings. :D

What I can't figure out is, I haven't met a single person who loves to watch reality TV shows. In fact, every American I've met from coast to coast hates reality TV shows and wishes the networks would stop it right now. Care to explain that one?
