Beliefnet.com offers brief articles and viewer forums on various aspects of religious belief. Whatever objectivity they may have brought to this area is somewhat diminished by the fawning, or at least less than skeptical, interview ("John Edward Tunes in to the Afterlife") in the current posting of the web site (http://www.beliefnet.com/story/136/story_13605_1.html). It occurs to me that JE may be one of the web site's sponsors. Maybe I can check that out.

Because I'm not in a good mood:

...snip....

My wife was not able to accompany me because my son was not feeling well, and I had this extra ticket.

...snip...

So his son was ill enough for his wife to stay home but not JE, what a nice caring father and husband. But I suppose that is the job of the "little woman".

Right at the same moment, the singer, Allison Briner, looked directly at me, and delivered the next line, "In time you were blessed with a child of your own... " My son, Justin, had just turned one year old, and to me, it was like my mom was letting me know she was with me, and acknowledging my son, her grandson.

What? He is at a show and the singer looks out at the audience - simply amazing! And the singer sings a line that they sing everytime they sing the song at every show, and uniquely only JE has a son so it must have meant something!

Goodness me - if he believes this then perhaps he is just deluded.

And this

It's love that brings them through, and it's that connection in some way that gets the message across.

Now this is very interesting because in a transcript by a poster called Neofight on the JE board on TVTalkshows he gets this connection:

John: Okay. The reason why she's the one who's coming through acknowledging this is because she's making me feel like she knows what it feels like to have lost substantially, and I think anybody in this room and watching this right now knows exactly (woman was quite emotional throughout a good part of the reading) -- you know. They understand how difficult this is for you to sit here and be able to do this. But she's the one who's doing this, making me feel like I need to say this, okay? Now, you knew her?

Woman: Yes, very well.

John: Was she not really fond of you?

Woman: Oh, no. We were very close.

John: (questioningly) Really?

Woman: Yeah. Well, I hope so. I hope so. (laughter)

John: I've got to give it as I'm getting it, all right? And I've gotta tell you that I think that these were -- um -- and maybe it was just in the beginning? But she's clearly letting me know that you weren't one of her favorites.

Woman: That's fine.

John: When she was HERE, naturally. And I'm sure that substantially changed over the time, because look what she's doing for you today, okay?

Woman: That's right.

John: But I have to give it as it's coming across, and she's making -- the only other way I could actually be misinterpreting this is if at one point YOU thought that she wasn't fond of you, (nods) and that she might have been paying more attention to somebody else and she was using the description of it as an issue to bring up, I don't know.

Now wouldn’t you have thought that JE would know that the women must have had a love connection ? After all that is how he tells us it works.... hmmm

Interestingly, atheists have the loudest energy and the most to say when they reach the other side and realize, "Hey, I was wrong, there is an afterlife!"

How amazing he even knows what someone's faith was but other tiny details, like a full name escape him.

The good thing about a fake and fraud like JE (and he is, there is no evidence he can communicate with any person who has died yet he says he can) is the more he talks the more he puts his foot in it.

(And yes I know I’ve obviously misinterpreted everything he said because… yada, yada yada…. )

If there really was a just god and an afterlife, Edward would be a crispy critter there.

Well, then those people should look at what he actually said:

The Many Contradictions of John Edward

Extract:

JOHN EDWARD CHAT ON MSN - 12/4/2000:
Q: "Hi John. Do you see auras? Do you see things in the future?"
John Edward: "I do not see auras, in the sense of seeing clouds of colors around them, which is auric vision. I do have the ability to feel a person's aura, energy wise. As a medium, I am also a psychic which lets me connect with the future as well."

"One Last Time", p.6
"I saw auras around my elementary school teachers. I would sit in class and see colors happening around them. I once told a teacher, 'You’re blue'."

Just one of many contradictions...

Rampaging monomania. Not unexpected.
