Jihadist Websites

There are Internet and Web companies in the U.S. hosting jihadist websites that promote Islamic extremism. These websites provide a world-wide platform for Al-Zarqawi's group as well as Al-Qaida. Many of the videos showing the beheadings of U.S. citizens are posted to these sites.

How do members here at JREF view this? Should U.S. companies be hosting such sites? Are these providers serving as the mouthpiece for Islamic extremism? Is the FBI allowing these sites to operate in the hopes of identifying key individuals and should they just let them continue to operate?

It's called freedom of speach. Anyway the FBi does shut down websies.

It tried to get rid of this one for example.

eddited to add I don't think ogrish.com (I would recomend you don't vist) is an jihadist website.

As long as they are not breaking any US laws (e.g. actually promoting murder or other acts of terrorism), these disgusting people deserve the right to free speech.

Are these providers serving as the mouthpiece for Islamic extremism?
Yes, they are. I thank them for allowing the freedom of unpopular, vile speech.

BTW, I looked at one of these websites and I am not convince they are staying on the legal side of the law. There were harangues that advocate violence in general plus celebration of specific murders. I do not know enough about the fine points of law to know whether they have gone into the "clear and present danger" zone that is no longer protected speech.

There are lots of websites that Id like to see brought down. nazi sites, jihadists ect... but It would get tricky if we toss sites based on moral outrage. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO ALL OUR WONDERFUL PORN!!!

We should take care of these sights the old fashion way. With (virtual) suicide bombers!!! Somebody round up some patriotic hackers!

Theses sites could be a useful way for the feds to track real terrorists. Sort of like how they hunt down kiddee porn.
