Got this on the strength of a review in Asimov's...Author is Max Barry.

Hilarious send-up of free-market capitalism, taken to it's ultimate conclusion. Well, not ultimate, France is still "socialist".

Hehe....People take the last name of the entity they work for, as the title character. Everything is governed by contracts.

One of the main characters gets roped into a contract that requires him to commit murder to advance the sale of Nike's new shoe line, and he has second thoughts and decides to go to the police...Who offer to subcontract the job. "We're more efficient, and we'll give you a bulk rate..."

Funny stuff.

I am interested in the book, but I lost interest in the "game" when I found that the decisions repeated too often, and only had short-term consequences.
