Gov. Bush ends inquiry into Schiavo's collapse

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- Gov. Jeb Bush has declared an end to the state's inquiry into Terri Schiavo's collapse 15 years ago, after Florida's state attorney said there was no evidence that criminal activity was involved.

Bush had asked State Attorney Bernie McCabe to investigate Schiavo's case after her autopsy last month. He said he now considers the state's involvement with the matter finished.

Linky linky

I'd really like to think this means the witchhunt of Michael Schiavo will finally come to an end. Somehow, unfortunately, I know better. :(

Clearly the State Attorney has sold-out and joined the evil pro-death crowd. It is impossible for anything else to be the case. He has joined the medical examiners, lawyers, dozen or so judges, dozens of doctors, nurses, and other specialists who all wanted nothing more than to kill Terry Schiavo.

My guess is that State Attorney McCabe either had a role in the her original "accident" himself or has accepted kickbacks from Michael Schiavo, the state bar association, or some conglomerate of "pro-death" doctors.

Despite the announcement from the attorney general, we still get this from the parents side:

David Gibbs, attorney for Schiavo's parents, said the report appeared rushed, noting that Bob and Mary Schindler were not interviewed by the state attorney's office.

What a bunch of pretentious twits. What do they really think they were going to contribute? Were they witness to something they didn't bring forward in the first 15 years after her collapse?

The more this goes on, the more it is clear that they think it is all about them.

Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

As with most things in this case: better late than never.
The exception being, of course, Ms. Schiavo herself. The consensus of the courts which examined the case was "better late than forever."

You know, throw in a couple of Nurse Iyer references and "get your facts straight"s, and that impression would be so good it's spooky. :D

Jeb will still use this when he runs for VP soon.

A Hillary Clinton/Jeb Bush ticket would be really fun, I agree.

They make such a cute couple.

So do Condi Rice and Ted Kennedy.

Were that election come to pass, I would not only drop my moral objection to nuclear weapons, but I would become the biggest proponent not only of their existence, but their widespread use.

To wipe out all the flying pigs coming out of frozen-over hell?

Craig Crawford on Countdown tonight made the interesting observation that Jeb Bush is/was using the Schiavo case primarily as a wedge issue for future political gain.

The other comment was that the timing of the announcement (post bombing, Friday, etc.) was somewhat suspect since Jeb had the info almost a week ago (i.e., keep a low profile and not annoy too many mainstream/moderate voters)

So if this is a true wedge issue and that no one else ultimately cares about what happened except the right-to-life/anti-abortion crowd - then it was a win-win for Jeb (i.e, he gets the fundementalist vote/support and doesn't alienate moderates). Ain't politics great.

I noticed the same. I saw it on Fox News, and man, did it pass through really quickly. I think they were all really interested in making sure this part was missed as much as possible.
