Dr. Van Allen died at the age of 91. He is most well known for his discoveries about, and the subsequent naming, of the "Van Allen Belts" of radiation around the Earth.

In terms of this Forum, his discovery has often been used by Moon Hoax CT'ers as a reason why we couldn't go to the moon. Dr. Van Allen has gone on record as saying that the belts would not prevent a mission to the Moon and that he knows we went.

And now his voice is silent and the woos will rejoice--dead scientists can be misquoted much easier than live ones.

Here's to you, Doc Allen.

Dr. Van Allen's contributions were truly epic. As time goes by, I'm just concerned that we don't have nearly enough following in his footsteps. We need more great scientists and communicators of science, IMO.
