Comey just sent yet another letter to congress, stating:

“During that process, we reviewed all of the communications that were to or from Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State,” Comey wrote. “Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton.”

Will Comey:

1) resign after the election
2) be fired by Obama
3) be fired by Clinton
4) stay on the job as a whipped little bitch
5) on planet X, Comey is the new president

ETA: First poll. hope I did it correctly...

Fired by Obama

My guess too.

It had been known within the FBI for weeks that there might be Clinton emails on Wiener's device (laptop? tablet?). Then suddenly, last week Comey thinks it's necessary to inform Congress, and now after only a week he says there's nothing to see. He couldn't keep his men from leaking to the press for another week? Really?

It's simply more evidence that his letter to Congress was a deliberate attempt to influence the elections.

To what end though? The FBI actively trying to get Donald *********** Trump elected??

I thought these were smart people. Do they think their day won't come if Donald is president? He will absolutely go after them.

This whole thing has been a confusing nightmare.

He either tried to influence an election or he is incredibly incompetent. Either way he needs to go.

Absolutely agree with your verdict.

Which is why he will stay on. Remember a certain Chicago Community Organizer taking charge in January of 2009, in the wake of the mortgage meltdown? His first acts involved handing the keys to the vault to the people who'd created the debacle!

Comey can be a very useful tool, now. If there's a cabal of right wing Fibbies, they need to be cleaned out. Who better than the tool they duped into singing their song at the cost of his own credibility. If I'm Clinton I assign Special Assistant James Carville and the New Orleans Pranksters to work with the FBI to help clean up the FBI.

I'm sorry, I'm ready for a telepath to rip open the minds of both contenders, their people, and half the people in government.

I'm waiting to hear what Trump says now, if anything, following his premature wholesale condemnation of Hillary as a corrupt jailbird-in-waiting a few days ago based solely on Comey "just looking at this again".
Speaking in Las Vegas, Trump accused Clinton of bribing Lynch with the promise of reappointment and said she “set up an illegal server for the obvious purpose of shielding her criminal conduct from public disclosure and exposure”.

And...here it is! Trump rejects your reality and substitutes his own.
In Michigan, Trump called Clinton "the most corrupt person ever to seek the office of the presidency of the United States."
But the Republican nominee, who has expressed hope in the last week that the FBI's review of new emails might yield an indictment, emphasized to his supporters Sunday that Clinton is "protected" by powerful forces.
"Well, you have to understand it's a rigged system and she's protected," Trump said in Minnesota, though he offered no evidence to back up his theory.

I've had a passing fancy that certain people (e.g. intelligence agencies) might find Trump to be easily manipulated, or at the least they would be given free rein under his administration.

This is based on knowing absolutely nothing but the plots of Dan Brown novels :p .

Latest in a long line of likely to fail predictions from me.....

Nothing will come of this. If Trump wins the election, Comey will stay in post and indeed may even receive praise for the even-handed way he handled the whole thing. If Hillary gets elected then this, like everything else will become a partisan ****-fest. Anything she tries to do as President will be vehemently opposed by the GOP and any action she is able to take unilaterally will be met with screeching claims of unconstitutionality.

The GOP will attempt to completely paralyse government for the next 4-8 years because they have found that, against all common sense, it makes the President look weak to enough people to keep them in power (and not like the complete asshats that they are). In the face of this, Hillary will need to conserve any political capital she has and not expend it over something like this.

In another thread this same suggestion elicited the response that the media will institute a witch-hunt against Comey to get him removed from position because the media thinks it has been "had". I'm not sure this is the case. This election has taught me that the news media are not the stalwart guardians of the truth (if they ever were), they're simply another part of the entertainment media and are happy as long as they are attracting viewers, readers, subscribers and so on. Viewed this way the latest email kerfuffle has been good for them because it has kept the controversy alive.

So I think Comey will stay in post and will not be significantly weakened and indeed the GOP will continue to look to him for yet more ways to attack Hillary's legitimacy if she is President.

This time could backfire on them, especially regarding the Supreme Court. It's very simple for people to see that there's an opening on the court, that the president has nominated someone, and that the GOPers are refusing to vote on it. It's tough to paint the prez as the bad guy when anyone with a few functioning neurons can see that it's the GOP that's to blame.
