After reading the commentary about the Catholic church, I went to my favorite local Catholic neighbors to see how they feel about Mediums! Sure enough (these people LOVE Mel Gibson for a take on how Catholic they are), they believe that it is the DEVIL talking to you! You open up your soul when you talk to JE or any of these other guys!
Here comes the technical part...
Only an angel or a devil is going to talk to you. You can't get "direct contact" (lots of Bible verses to "prove" this followed).
Since most people who die aren't Catholics, of course the devil knows all about them! Heck, they're right there next to him having their feet burned and all that! It's only God who tries to block this evil ,which is why the message is muddled. It's pretty sad, but if you get a lot of hits, your loved one isn't having a wonderful time.
I pointed out that maybe it was all cold reading and hooey. Mind you, cold reading is not mentioned in the Bible, so that didn't fly.
Still, pretty cool is the Catholic church took these guys out!
