Israeli Parlament ratifies Gaza withdrawal

How long do you think Sharon will have to watch his back to stay alive for making even this limited move?
He isn`t only in danger from the Palestinians I`d wager.

Exactly my thought. Kudos to him for taking this gutsy move.

A step in the right direction. They have gone from thinking about it to talking about it....My next applause will be heard when it happens.

A step in the right direction, but I note that Israel is still keeping some extra-territorial rights regarding the Egyptian border and the coast. I wonder if anything will be done about Hebron next?

You see, this is as far as it will go. A sheer mass rush of humanity could have overrun those settlements. The rest stays. An open air prison, patrolled by spy planes and helicopters 24 hours, no nationality, no rights.

a_u_p's take on giving Gaza to the Palestinians.... which obviously isn't good enough cuz it makes it harder to villify Israel. But he'll try ;)

p.s. Ironically Gaza has been Egyptian land since the time of that christ thingy. How do you feel about the Egyptians the Palestinians displaced a_u_p?

Considering that the IDF has spent the past few weeks in Gaza killing a whole bunch of people, demolishing homes left and right, and having all sorts of other fun, this "withdrawal" strikes me as being too little, too late. A lot of damage has been done this past month, and not by the Palestinians.

I can only see it as getting worse till it is done. A bunch of bad@sses on both sides are going to be determined to make sure they don't 'lose face' while trying to make as much capital out of it as possible.

well no of course, but your original post strangely ignored them, a vital part of the equation.

Not as vital as the settlers, which I also "strangely" ignored in my post.

Your post was about IDF operations in Gaza. You made it sound like the IDF was there "for fun" to kill Palestinians and raze homes. Until I added Hamas militants, gunfights in the streets with Hamas militants and Hamas militants launching motars back into the equation.

Then you try to allude that Hamas militants are not Palestinians..

Yes, zenith-nadir, we know, Palestinians = Hamas, you've made it clear before.

How old are you, ZN? what he said was, just because you are a Palestinian it does not mean you are a member of Hamas.

Yeah, those damn terrorists, fighting back when their communities are invaded. How dare they.

Are you on crack? That's the only way this statement makes any sense. I never implied any such thing.

Israel's Gaza commander resigns...guess it`s never too late find a conscience.

Israel's Gaza commander resigns

The most senior Israeli army commander in Gaza has resigned his post.
Brig Gen Shmuel Zakai is believed to have told reporters that Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered an operation in Gaza that the army thought unnecessary.

One report says Gen Zakai failed a polygraph test that was part of the investigation into the press leaks.

More than 100 Palestinians died in clashes after Israeli forces went into the Jabaliya camp in northern Gaza in late September for 17 days (more)...
