Intelligent Design = Frankenstein

I just free-associated this, and I throw it out for criticism:

What if we try to contaminate the Intelligent Design meme by reframing it as the claim that the prototype human body came out of some one or some thing's laboratory through a process of invention and engineering, like in Mary Shelley's novel? If we started comparing the conjectured "designer" to Victor Frankenstein at every opportunity, maybe the repugnance associated with the Frankenstein myth will make the ID seem less attractive.

I am inclined against such a thing... it seems contrary to our style... we're not in the business of encouraging people to decide the truth of something based on the emotional appeal of it. Our mission is to ask people to think about the truth of something and decide it without deferring to their emotional preference.

Mary Shelley compares Frankenstein with god and his "intelligently designed" science experiment with Adam. The novel's front page quotes from Paradise Lost, where after the Fall Adam complains to god,

Did I request thee, Maker, from my Clay
To mould me Man, did I sollicite thee
From darkness to promote me?

I agree with gnome: Though I use a lot of derogatory terms for the myriad forms of woo out there, I avoid using them in attempts at rational discourse.

I could make a hundred posts in the Humor forum using the term "IDiocy", but if I start debating, I drop all such insults.
