Ouch.

Anyone know what popular support was for Clinton's impeachment before it happened?

eta: Found these numbers, which were apparently taken after Clinton was impeached:

Do you approve of the decision to impeach Clinton?

Approve 35%
Disapprove 63%

If Clinton would be the current President, with these policies he would have been nailed onto a cross and burned a long time ago.

So what's the difference? Are Republican Presidents holy?

Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.

That's the exact wording 88 percent clicked Yes for. I can't believe MSNBC even ran this poll since its going to be a DailyKOS/MoveON/etc vs FreeRepublic get-out-the-vote war based on a terrible question that just shows total abject ignorance for picking "Yes" and has one of the No options as a whole endorsement of Bush.

Shame on MSNBC.

I guess this poll means that AM radio will be talking about that favorite whipping chimera, the mainstream liberal media, for weeks.

Although I'd like the numbers to be true, come on... A self-selecting poll is about as worthwhile as tits on a bull.

God made some men superior to other men and to rule over those men.
When an inferior man gets into high office by a historical accident, the
superior man must act to bring the inferior man back down. There is no
need to bring down the superior man despite his many flaws, however.

Numbers Show True Trouble by Matt Towery

Our InsiderAdvantage/Majority Opinion poll asked this:

"Would you favor or oppose the impeachment by Congress of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney?"

Favor: 39 percent.

Oppose: 55 percent.

Undecided/Don't Know: 6 percent.

The survey of 621 registered voters has been weighted for age, race, gender and political affiliation. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

Just another pole. ;)

Since the Dems took over Congress does anyone know what happened to their poll numbers? I don't know but according to this blog their as bad as Bush's. Maybe we should impeach the government. ;)

Shame on MSNBC.

The "No" questions are just as potentially convincing and well worded as the "Yes" alternative. I don't see it as bias.

I'd heard that too. Aside from the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, do you remember hearing them passing any of the other ambitious stuff they had planned? Because I don't and I wonder if I have that one wrong.

Then, it's probably hard to get things done when you have a slim majority and the politics are completely partisan.

Yes, I know one is more scientific and one is an internet poll. Is there a more sound poll on public approval for impeaching Bush? If not, why not?

If not, you might want to ask polling organizations why not. If MSNBC is willing to put up a silly self-selecting poll to ask the question, then how about NBC News and its polling patner The Wall Street Journal do a real poll on the question.

Not really on topic, but related. You know when those Rep congressmen went and had the "intervention" with Bush a couple of weeks ago. They didn't go up there out of concern for the continuing loss of life in Iraq due to the failed policy. What motivated them was their concern for losing their seats in the next election. This pretty much sums up the character of the type of people we have running this country. This is what it takes to motivate thes people - fear of losing their power and their privilege. The same sort of inclinations also motivate those on Dem side, but they tend to be less obvious and blatant about it.

I completely agree. But it seems obvious to me that the Dems lack the kahoonas to draw a line in the sand and insist on an immediate pull-out. While this would not be my favorite option, I just say they should put their money where their mouths are.

I dont know why no one has done anything yet. I do not quite know how it happens either.
