My wife, a naturalized citizen, just returned from Alhambra Ca. last week where her mother and sister live. Alhambra/Monterey Park has a large Chinese population. My sister-in law went to a party thrown by the woman who owns the condo my sister-in-law used to rent.

Her parties and lavish affairs, and she likes to flaunt all her gold and other trappings of wealth. My wife was and still is fuming about some of the other things the woman bragged about; how stupid Americans are and how easy it is to rip them off. I know this lady fairly well as she kept a room in the condo and would fly back and forth between her home in Taiwan and the US condo.

Anyway she now not only owns the condo, she has two low income senior citizen apartments which she sub-lets, one to her son-in law who is a retired air-force officer (Taiwan) and a retired airline pilot. Who never worked a day in the US but is also paying for the rent using his social security check. His wife, her daughter as stewardess, came to the US and had her child. She claimed she was not married, and the father does not support her, so now she gets free services, such as milk diapers...well you get the picture.

My wife is very upset about this, we have been tiring to get low income housing for her father, for about 5 years He is also a naturalized citizen, and meets the income (or lack there of) to qualify but nothing is available.

Anyone have an idea who to report something like this to?

The mother was apparently very proud of how she could get away with so much fraud. Now as I am getting this story "down line" it could well be made up or embellished but if my tax dollars are being abused like this I sure would like to stop it.

Here I was thinking that my immigration expertise had been used up on the "Could you be a U.S. citizen thread."

Well, SRW, I can give you some contact info. Just remember, if these people get nailed for just about any type of fraud, they will most likely be deported. I say that, because I've read a lot of transcripts where victims have pressed charges (assault, larceny, etc.) saying they want the person punished, but not deported. Fruad is most definitely a crime involving moral turpitude. Even if a person is here legally, they can be deported for a CIMT. In most cases, people have a defense and may stay. If the fraud is in excess of $10,000 or its a larceny conviction carrying a one year sentence (even suspended) its considered an "aggravated felony." (FYI felonies are usually crimes that involve MORE THAN a year, but immigration follows its own wacky definitions). There is almost no way to avoid deportation with an agg. fel (and there is no coming back either). That said, make sure you want to go through with any reporting. [end legalduck's omnious warning]

The people to contact are the agencies being defrauded. Whatever housing administration manages the low income apt. programs or Social Security Administration. Beyond that, go to law enforcement agencies. Police for state violations, FBI for federal issues. ICE is on the immigration end of things (INS ceased to exist five years ago). They usually step in at the end of any criminal proceedings. Their numbers and local offices are available on the web.

Note that your title to this thread is misleading. This is fraud by immigrants. Immigration fruad is the illegal entry or obtaining of status in the U.S.

Wow, I sure am oblivious. I only recently heard about ICE. I had no idea that the INS is no more.

Your right, nothing these people are doing cannot be done by born in the USA welfare cheats.

Thanks for the info, I'll post if this goes anywhere, its up to the wife.

this party was probably in my building.

Alhambra/San Gabriel/Monterey Park...

where if you go to the supermarket at 11:59pm you'll see chinese people paying for their groceries with foodstamps and then loading them into $80,000 luxury vehicles.
