I thought I'd give Opera a try.

Is there a way to clone the current page, so it opens a new tab with the same page as the current tab?

Yeah, right click on the tab you want to copy, the choose "Duplicate".

I switched to Opera after having no end of troubles with FireFox. I miss some of the functionality of FF, but Opera sure does seem to be WAY more stable than either FF or IE.

ETA: the shortcut keys are Ctrl+Alt+Shift+N

It kept freezing up on me, the updates happened too frequently (I'd get two or three a day for the plug-ins). Those were the two biggest. Also, certain sites just didn't work with FF.

I haven't had any of those issues with Opera. Although, one of my boxes had an issue with downloading the update that recently came through, but that was a minor hiccup.

I'll say this, when it did work, FF was great. It had some features that I miss. But to not have the headaches that I did it's worth it.

I still use FF...I like Opera, got nothing against it, but overall I prefer Firefox's superior functionality and plugin abilities. (I've never been able to get Flash working in Opera, for example.)

Is it perfect? No. But then, no browser is.

I'm just the opposite, no matter how many times I tried to install Flash, Shockwave or Quicktime in FF, it never caught. First time I tried on Opera...good as gold.

I really miss the weather plugin tho.

So long as you aren't using IE...

I use Firefox mostly, have done for ages. Never had any problems with it under Windows XP, and now I'm using it in linux.

What troubles did you have with Firefox?

In my experience, I have (had?) two main problems:

1) Entering a single quote " ' " while typing in a text box would cause the Find function to open at the bottem of the window. There was a way to turn this off, which I did, but periodically, it would somehow turn itself back on.

2) Cut and Paste would all of a sudden stop working.

Since downloading the latest version a week or so ago, I don't think these issues have occured.

I just tried that: Typing ' (it's a "pling") in the text box at the bottom of this page, and it doesn't cause the Find function to open. I haven't fiddled with the options. Odd.

2) Cut and Paste would all of a sudden stop working.

Haven't encountered that one.

I tried Opera about 2 weeks ago. I only tried it with one page www.betfair.com It didn't work properly so I uninstalled it again without visiting any other pages whatsoever.

Firefox is crap with that site as well cos I have to scroll to submit bets. Pain in the bum.

Explorer is best although I don't like the fact it doesn't have tabs. I also don't like the fact that the minimized pages don't occupy separate slots any more like they used to. It's absolutely infuriating and crazy because you have to mess about to get a particular page maximized again!

Come to think of it I don't like any of the browsers.

Is there anything in this life that you like?

Except yourself, that is?

Right-click on the taskbar, choose Properties, then uncheck "Group similar taskbar buttons." Microsoft thought people would love that "feature," so naturally people hate it.

Edit: Ooops. Slow out of the gate again.

Personally, I like having software that improves over time, without having to wait for the company to release something once every six months. I like having my software's bugs fixed quickly, and new features to be added when they become useful. Is that just me?

To anyone who says that some sites don't work in opera or firefox... well, that's good. If there's enough people who use browsers that refuse to render sites written by monkeys, then the monkeys might have to evolve :)

Sure, no browser's perfect and anyone can have a preference. Nobody need evangelise. But my choices are better than your choices.

Jesus this firefox piece of crap is doing my nut in! I've now got another problem which has appeared in the past 24 hours where I have to scroll down loads to see any content on some webpages!

Are there any other browsers apart from Explorer, firefox and Opera?

There was one based on Internet Explorer but can't recall its name :(

It's F11 in IE, too. I have an "Office compatible" keyboard in which the function keys default to MS Office shortcuts unless you turn it off by pressing the "Office" button. If I forget, hitting F11 brings up the find utility rather than going fullscreen. Maybe you have something similar.

edit: don't know about deepnet explorer
