I saw a UFO tonight

I was driving home late tonight, a bit past midnight. We live out in the countryside with few street lamps and the sky was very, very clear. Ahead of me on a long straight road towards home I could see, hovering above our village, a very bright light. It moved in circles, and back and forth, quite rapidly, almost like it was scanning the village.

To be honest, it wasn't "flying", and it wasn't (for me, anyway), unidentified.

It was an object though. A large one - Jupiter!

It was a fascinating experience because it was very bright tonight and seemed, through the glass of my car, to be well separated from the dome of the stars - it really seemed close, as if it was hovering above the village, and it really looked as if it was moving at speed in different directions.

Of course, it was my car that was moving, but it was an enlightening experience, because I can easily understand how some people could misinterpret what they were seeing.

I had a glowing oblong shape at sunset constantly in my field of vision when driving home one evening. Turns out that it was a small stone chip in the windscreen and the low orange sun illuminated it.

No wonder you think Amway works. You are seeing things. :D

I was relieved that your Unidentified Flying Objerct turned out to be identifyable.
There are extraterrestrials interested in coming in to Earth, but NORAD appears to be poised to prevent them. Pity. I think we should open up to the idea for the benefit of both parties.
Communication.
I worked out the method of interpreting telepathy, defining telepathy as the universal means of communication. It has very unique properties, as for example being an automatic language interpreter. Regardless of the sender's language, the receiver always gets it in his/her own working language. Extraterrestrials use it, I "hear it" sometimes, and am keeping a diary.

Hi Kathie/Ms Bondar

Welcome to the thread! Which planet/star-system/galaxy (or the plural of them!) are ET's wishing to visit Earth from?

Is this a serious post? Please be advised that all mickey taking posts must have smilies.

Yes, telepathy would be the ideal "universal translator." Too bad it's so darned unreliable...

You can follow Kathie's "Ganymede connexion" in Religious figures reincarnated (Split from: Pope responds question from atheist) and Kathie's vanity press publications (google her name) . The would-be visitors are reincarnations of famous earthlings and telepathy their means for communication. Read, if you are looking for good laughs and an occasional teardrop.

Hmm didn't know that.

What surprises me is that no cleaners, toilet attendants, train drivers, milkmen or famous criminals are reincarnated - it's only people with status that are reincarnated

And amateur parlour magicians too by the looks of it.

I did that once.
Then I sobered up.

These causes of surprise have been discussed in the other thread. It is a pity too, that the telepathy involves automatic translation, because no information about ancient or alien languages can be obtained from the communications, which is regrettable. And sometimes when the information can be checked, it turns out to be false.

It astonishes me that, in the 21st century, you can still find people who believe in Jupiter.

Out of interest, can anyone explain the illusion that caused my misperception of depth? At first I thought the light was a plane or a helicopter, it really did look close.

Which would be consistent with a hallucination - information being checked is false. The other problem I have with the other thread is which deity exactly is being discussed - last time I checked there were 6 million alleged deities so finding this exact one isn't going to be an easy task!

I suspect this is the root cause of many a UFO sighting. It's hard for your brain to discriminate between the object moving and your POV moving.
