Let's see so far here's what I know of:

IE: An MS product? lol. right.

Edge: See IE.

Chrome: #### you Google and your snooping prying ways. Pass.

Opera: the UI always sucked donkey dongs. I just installed the latest and that's still true. Pass.

Firefox: Sooner or later I have crashing issues w/this thing and wtf with no stop or reload button? Seriously?

Vivaldi: tried out of desperation due to the above. Not bad, but it's been acting up lately (it's new so I figure growing pains)...like lately it keeps giving me this "warning unsafe site ahead" crap on sites I know are safe. And sometimes it won't let me plow ahead anyway. wtf?

So what else is out there? Anything worthwhile y'all use?

Not sure what you mean with the last bit. I'm running it fairly vanilla, and at the address bar is a 'stop' icon while the page is loading, which becomes a 'reload' icon once the page has finished loading.

Crashing issues in FF are usually (if you have ruled out hardware problems) down to plug-ins/extensions.

I use Internet Explorer. It allows me to look at the Internet which is what I want my browser to do.

Sure, but if as is suggested by the OP you are a priori anti-Microsoft, then nothing will convince you that anything Microsoft does can be in any way useful.

For the record, Edge is a perfectly functional browser.

Hm well wasn't on mine (I uninstalled). I guess removing it was an "upgrade" they did :boggled: Didn't have any add-ons/etc so not sure on the crashing. What version do you have?

I haven't had any problems since I switched to using Safari full-time.
Thx I'll check this one.....

I'm running 50.0.2, but the stop and reload icons have been there as long as I can remember.

I never get crashes, but if I leave it open for a while, it gets bigger and bigger memory requirements, so I tend to restart it every week or two, generally when it's using close to 2GiB. I suspect the memory leak is caused by a plug-in.

Always hated Safari on Windows, but I haven't tried it in many years, so it may have got better.

45.5.1 here - definitely have stop/reload button.

Never crashed as far as i can remember. History and other data clears automatically when I turn it off, and that happens every few days.

I keep Chrome installed because occasional work web sites don't play nice with the privacy settings I have in FF. But, FF is by far my preferred of the IE, FF, Chrome selection. Never tried Opera, mostly because I've been quite happy with FF performance and privacy options.

OK I installed 50.2. I have it. Not sure what I had before that didn't but we'll see how it goes......thx!

I've been using Firefox almost exclusively pretty much since it first came out. I doubt there's a version or upgrade I haven't been using.

The stop/reload switch has been there the entire time. At least, I've never not seen it.

Is it possible you just overlooked it?

I've been using firefox as my default browser for donkey's years and it's rock solid. Sometimes a little slow and struggles with some websites as I run many security plugins: ghostery, NoScript etc. I have Chrome for when I trust (ish) a website but it uses so many external javascript libraries that my FF NoScript gets to be a pain. Also Chrome has some nice debug tools. My third option which is climbing in my estimation is Avast SafeZone Browser. That combined with using this hosts file seems to be working well. YMMV

unpossible, I never overlook anything.

:whistling

Definitely possible but I do recall after not seeing it looking it up and it was a known issues with my version. Anyway, moot point, seems OK so far and I don't plan to get too fancy with add-ons, so hopefully this will work. Thx

I say Firefox, the only time I have had it crash a refresh fixed it, or an update. It is really stable however.

It may be other issues that cause Firefox to crash

Post script, I see you reloaded Firefox, it has its quirks but is amazingly stable.

IE for work stuff, as that's what's loaded.
Used Netscape Navigator then Firefox at home until I got a Chromebook, now use Chrome on my 'Media Centre' (read crappy old HP PC that I use for Netflix, CDs etc) and private browsing at work.
It's much smarter than me, and remembers all my passwords and bookmarks, has all my pictures floating on clouds, even gets them straight from my phone. Wherever I am. Probably magic, who knows.
I couldn't give a **** if Google want to snoop my browsing. It's just all nice and easy.
