Hypatia was a mathematician, astronomer, and Platonic philosopher. According to the Byzantine encyclopedia The Suda, her father Theon was the last head of the Museum at Alexandria.

Hypatia's prominence was accentuated by the fact that she was both female and pagan in an increasingly Christian environment. Shortly before her death, Cyril was made the Christian bishop of Alexandria, and a conflict arose between Cyril and the prefect Orestes. Orestes was disliked by some Christians and was a friend of Hypatia, and rumors started that Hypatia was to blame for the conflict. In the spring of 415 C.E., the situation reached a tragic conclusion when a band of Christian monks seized Hypatia on the street, beat her, and dragged her body to a church where they mutilated her flesh with sharp tiles and burned her remains. She has gained fame from Carl Sagan repeating her story.

I wrote a song about her.

Listened to your tracks; and this is not a put down; this is coming from a guy whose recorded dozens of bands, and basicly had to become their "adhoc" producer, because very few had any idea what they were doing.
But anyway, work on tighting up your rythem sec, your bass G and kick need to "lock" alot more

Thanks for listening man!

Na constructive critism is what I am looking for. Hypatia was recorded live in our garage and on one take. I figure its not bad for that. We also have a new drummer as you can tell on the track he just lacks a certian punch. We have aquired that and we all are in vocal lessons. The other track mellow man was done about 2 years ago when the band was like 5 months old. So once again i figure not bad for that, but our live sound is where it is at!

Thanks again man!

At first, I thought "Hypatia" was starting out like a BTO tune. :)

I like the raspy gutteral tone of the vocalist.

"Mellow Man" has some nice guitar work that reminds me of being stoned at 3 a.m. listening to mellow music. The talking lyrics take away from it, though. It would be better if there was something sung with a Neil Young flavor, but that may be my age talking. :)

lol

No way man, all music is ageless, just like the listener...
