Dean seemed relaxed as he campaigned, engaging the crowd and even swapping some one-liners.

When a young student ignored the polls and Kerry's momentum and asked Dean if he would run for a second term as president, he quipped, "With a question like that I will have to consult my chief of staff -- who will be you."

As the crowd roared, another student asked: "What do you think of the president's proposal to go to Mars?"

"I think he should," Dean replied, drawing more laughter.
