How was the Lucy Meadows thing allowed to happen?

I mean what did it matter to the Daily Mail that she choose to remain a teacher after gender reassignment surgery?

How did they let one editor go on such a mean spirited and personal mission of bigotry?

I am just appalled.

I take it you've never heard much about Paul Dacre? Egotistical, vainglorious and evil are some of the nicer character references I've read about him. From all accounts and his own actions such descriptions would seem to be accurate.

Heavens for-fend that young schoolchildren be introduced early to the idea that people are different from themselves! All schoolteachers should obviously be medically altered to look exactly alike and trained not to discuss anything outside a very narrow world view.

I'm sad to hear that the poor woman was hounded to death. However I am touched at the reaction of her community. Even the letter from the head of her school when she first made the transition was supportive in its no-nonsense, businesslike way.

Littlejohn is scum. Always has been, always will be.
I can't really disagree, but I'm not sure that that's the problem. He expresses disgusting opinions for money, and it wouldn't work if people didn't want it and pay for it.

You aren't very familiar with the Daily Mail, are you?

Sadly that is true - but I would say that society does seem to have a tendency to realise that some things although popular are rather bad ideas so seeks to lessen the impact. Hopefully this will prove to be one of those areas.

Because that's what government and laws are for, to enforce what the government determines are correct opinions and stifle incorrect opinions.

That's soooooo unlike what Putin thinks!

the idea of free press is an interesting and complicated one. you cant have a free press without these types of disgusting extreme views.
but you also cant have a fairly regulated press without it becoming a way for the powerful to silence critics.

a free democracy, for example, will have lunatics like bnp etc... and the closer to "true" democracy (pr say), the better these animals do! similar to selling newspapers.

we get the society we deserve.

But it wasn't just Littlejohn - she was hounded by the whole filthy pack of press parasites. They followed her, waited outside her house, offered people money for stories about her, took pictures from the Facebook pages of her family and friends... It was a totally unwarranted intrusion of her privacy at the very time that she was at her most psychologically fragile
And for what? She hadn't harmed anybody, or committed any crime! She was treated like a freak, a circus sideshow, her personal life laid out for the nation to sneer at, to laugh at, to gawp at. All to sell a few more copies of some bloody newspaper.

I was wondering.....
Is anyone up for setting up a reward for a picture of Littlejohn's "family jewels"? They must be pretty small for him to muster up the guts to go after someone who's never hurt anyone. As in guiness book of records small.

That you think this an issue of people merely having opinions shows you, once again, have no idea what is happening in the UK press and why the draft charter was proposed.
