Does any one know how to link to google maps? I don't mean using the API which embeds an image of a map into the web page.

I have two options:

(1) Create a hyperlink to maps.google.com and supply either location name or long/lattitude or both.

(2) Ideally, submit a search to google maps using location name. (As if i'd gone to maps.google.com and entered the location in the search bar).

I'm struggling to find out how to do it. All results refer to the API.

Cheers

In the upper right of the displayed map is a button called "link" which gives you the link for the current displayed map at the current zoom level. Is that what you're looking for?

No, I need to be able to link to the maps with locations garnered from a database.

Anyway, as is usually the case, I found out how to do it right after posting!

You simply create a hyper link like this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=place name Or
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=longitude,latitude

This goes to maps.google.com and puts the q part of the query string into the search bar and searches

This must be simple common knowledge as it took me ages to find it!

In my limited experience with this, don't forget the "<" and ">".
