Others have given good advice - I'll just add a footnote about rules. You should absolutely ban anyone who is so lazy that they can't take the time (measured in milliseconds) to type "people" so just use "ppl".

Also ban ppl so anal about minor formalisms that they can't tolerate common abbreviations.

Minor quibble on one item... Amanda Knox was definitely railroaded by the abysmal stupidity of the Italian police/lab people and court system. But it is, thanks to that, never going to be sure whether she was guilty or not... I do not know because I was not there.

Excuse me. I actually extensively looked into this. The poor woman couldn't have been more innocent!

"I don't know because I wasn't there" is a cop-out. At least in this situation.

I wasn't there during the Civil War because it happened in the 1860s. I know it happened!
