Most of you know that I try to drive as safely and concientiously as possible. I never know who's out there, and I never can tell exactly what kind of challenges I'll face out on the road, but the best way to handle it is to stay alert, try to keep learning, and to operate my 18-wheeler as safely as possible.

In light of this, I'd like to pass on to you all this website about the Surface Transportation Assistance Act. I don't often encounter sites like this, that are as well constructed as this. As I'm right now looking for another gig, preferably one with a company that actually wants to operate safely, this is a huge boon to my job search.

BTW: If you think that Yellow/Roadway/USF is a safe outfit, you may want to read and listen a little further. This site presents a lot of evidence which might make you think twice about hanging out in the "No Zone" around their rigs. Ditto for Swift, too.

Please, guys. None of what I'm reading here is new, but it's presented in a better fashion than you'd usually find. If you don't have a CDL, this site will help you understand some of what's going on, but a trip to the DMV to get a copy of the CDL handbook might help you to understand some of what I deal with on a daily basis. Read it, and please, stay safe.
